that there is a lot of talk in New York of UNC going to B1G, and maybe Duke too? Most of the talk is UNC, UVA, Duke, and GT. They haven't mentioned FSU or Clemson.

B1G wants academic schools. Duke and UNC will be a package where ever they go, but I wouldn't expect them to leave.

At the end of the day, UNC is a large, public university and Duke is a small, private university. The "powers that be" at UNC have a specific set of people to answer to, and if the ACC was really falling apart and the SEC or Big 10 said "We want you, UNC, but we won't take Duke", then I think that would be all she wrote. It's SUPER easy to schedule each other for basketball every year, and no one would care if they didn't schedule each other in football.

That's why they cheated so much to try to get their football program going. They saw where the money was going to be...but got caught trying to do too much too fast.

culturally, all their fanbase cares about is basketball. Hard to push football when you can't get 50K in the stands to watch it.

Winning at a high level would fill the place again and they know it. But ONLY if they win at a high level - because as you pointed out, they are a basketball school.
SOMEBODY over there realized they would need football to "keep up with the Jones'" in basketball eventually.
