A place with no tennis history and where it’s very hard to win. Took them to the elite eight this year. One of the hottest names in women’s tennis.

Still can't get over this years team starting out 11-1 with a win against South Carolina in that span of 12 matches but then proceed to go 5-11 the rest of the season and thus missing out on what looked like early on a sure invite to the NCAA Tournament

Hard to complain about this hire. Iowa State's facilities are nothing compared to Clemson. The Big XII is a good conference for women's tennis but not as strong top-to-bottom as the ACC. He probably saw a challenge and opportunity in leaving Ames for Clemson. It was mostly (all?) international kids at Iowa State so he obviously has connections to recruiting outside of the United States. Finally, he was making $155,000 at Iowa State. For Clemson to be in that range for women's tennis shows a huge departure from the usual ways of doing it on the cheap. I think the last 3 head coaches (men's and women's) were first-timers running a program. To go out and get someone who has taken a team to the Elite Eight is a huge accomplishment. I'm excited to see how he does.
