There seems to be a lot of dislike for Cam Newton on this site. I was curious as to why?
1. Because he played in the SEC?
2. Because the was Auburn the qb in 2010 and took them to #1 by barely beating Clemson in overtime?
3. Because he plays for the Carolina Panthers?
4. Because of his on filed antics?
5. Because?
I was just curious why all the negative words for him.
I am not a huge NFL fan, I tend to be a fan of NFL players......all part of the Clemson family. But if I had to pick a NFL team to cheer for tonight, it would be the Panthers.

he is an amazing NFL quarter back.
There was so much around his recruitment at Auburn -- and yes, we should have won that game -- that I think there is some residual disrespect ... earned or not.
But really -- what he does on the field is amazing.
Give the man some props.

They are afraid when they see an African American male with that much power, doing the things he does, and being that successful. It's fear and bewilderment.
At least that's the pathetically ignorant narrative that is going absolutely unchallenged and is being swallowed up like a load of something by the brainwashed, brainless, gutless masses. First Super Bowl thing I tuned into this morning on CBS was perpetuating that nonsense.

Cam Newton is a powerful man and qb. I'll leave it at that. I have not seen much of the SB coverage today. Kinda glad I have missed it.

spectacular QB. He is certainly deserving of the MVP this year. Still, I don't like him because his whole college career was shady at best, and I think he is arrogant, cocky, and his on-the-field antics are more than just spontaneous celebrations (which I have no problem with whatsoever), but are choreographed and always manage to draw even more attention to himself. The fact that people claim that makes me a racist, and even he has implied as much, makes me dislike him even more.

I get your point. That is over the line for me too. I guess I just have not seen Cam do an thy thing like that this season. Note that it is very possible I just missed it since I have cut the cable cord.

But I have went from total hate (stealing in college, playing for Auburn, celebrating a TD when down 20 like he just won the super bowl) to now I respect that he does a lot of good deeds, makes teamates better and he does not do stupid things like Johnny football. I really like to watch him play.

Unfortunately, he is a very talented jerk. He, no doubt, was instrumental in someone in his family receiving benefits from Auburn for his services. He loves the spotlight and will go to great lengths to get the cameras tuned in to him, thus the showboating in the end zone. I mentioned on here before, in a game 3 or 4 weeks ago, he ran out onto the field during a time out. The problem was the defense was on the field at the time and he gave a high five to 3 or 4 guys before running back off the field. This was done solely for camera time. Nobody likes showboats. Never have, never will. As far as the racist thing is concerned, this was brought up by a black broadcaster and no white broadcasters have the nads to defend their race. It has nothing to do with racism. Sorry, look for another excuse rather than state a more accurate assessment of the truth.

I recommend it. And if you're a big Bernie supporter, you know, because he wants to give everybody lots of free stuff, then I would suggest checking out the history of socialism and communism. Greece is a good modern place to start with that.

I guess my very fine Clemson education was simply not enough. Two Clemson degrees and somehow I don't know everything??

fan, Cam has beaten everyone and enjoyed the process - so there's a lot of jilted fans in his wake, and he's poised to take that to its highest level tonight. He's a remarkable athlete and young man and I'm hoping he stays the straight and narrow and lives the role model he's becoming.
