Beating Dawgs in '13 & Bad record caused them to hire entire D staff

Sep 2, 2014, 1:38 PM

Which was a way to appease dissatisfied Fans (even though a lot of Losses due to injuries)..as well as to beef up their D across the board. Gotta give Coach R some points for this move..which paid off in 1st major game. GoTiGERs!

Todd Grantham didn't get fired from UGA

Sep 2, 2014, 1:44 PM

he left on his own for Louisville

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Translation....

Sep 2, 2014, 1:47 PM

He quit in order to avoid being fired.

No one in their right mind leaves UGa voluntarily for Louisville unless its a basketball coach.

Agree - No reason to think he was run off

The fans I know (mostly family) were pretty happy with Grantham after just his third year, 2012. Their defense wond some games and keep some scores down with highly ranked teams. 2013 is the only season they could grumble about but it was only one season.

He was definitely run off!!!***

Now that I think about it the DC switch

Sep 2, 2014, 3:02 PM

happened in a matter of days. So my family is probably wrong and you are right. Richt was ready to pull in Pruitt right away.

Pruitt probably won't be at UGa very long....

Sep 2, 2014, 3:14 PM

a season or two at most. Teams on which he was coaching won national championships three out of the last four seasons. Pruitt is probably the hottest assistant coach in college football right now and will have numerous suitors offering him head coaching jobs after this season.

Pruitt may be "in waiting" for Richt's exit. And trust me, the AD had decided Grantham was gone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pruitt will be a head coach long before Richt leaves UGa***

Not positive but I think Richt and Co. didn't think CTG fit in with the culture, and "suggested" that he might fit in better elsewhere. I assume they already knew that CJP was available beforehand. In any event, I'm happy the CJP is there and that CTG is there
