Wayne Gallman

Aug 16, 2016, 1:02 PM

Is it me or does every analyst sleep on the Waynetrain as a top back in CFB?!

He is certainly underrated.

I agree that Gallman is underrated, but it's difficult to argue with that list. I think Gallman is right there with 7-10, but I don't necessarily think that he's better than the guys listed.

Gallman is a hard worker and gives every run his all. He's consistent, hangs on to the ball, and fights for extra yardage, but I think he lacks the flashiness that you see in many of the guys on that list. Hence why he tends to fly under the radar. I also don't know that I've really seen him take over a game and dominate it. He's a perfect piece to our puzzle and runs behind a pretty darn good O-line. Definitely benefits from being surrounded by great athletes as well. Not trying to take anything away from Gallman and his accomplishments, but that's just how I see it.

Yep. Gallman is a really good fit for our current offense

but he was something like 53rd in YPC last year among qualified FBS RBs. His 1500 yards last year was largely a product of carry volume. He's a really tough runner, but not very explosive.

That said, his toughness and durability is exactly what we need for this offense right now, particularly last year when we were so thin at RB. We don't really need a homerun hitting RB with Watson and our WR corp.

Definitely agree, I just think he's a better back than Joe Mixon at OU!!
