I attended a press conference given by AD Frank Howard eons ago. When asked about a proposed rowing team at Clemson, Coach Howard said he could never support a sport where you sit on your add and go backwards.

Coach Howard loved him some female attention so you just know he would like having those girls on the Rowing team around him any time and all the time

I may be wrong but I think it was he wasn’t going to support a sport “that you sit down to play and go backwards to win”.

I was watching tennis against UNC (for the conference lead) and CFH came over from spring practice and leaned on the bleachers. He was encouraged to utter the rowing statement again … and he just smiled. He watched the tennis for about five minutes then turned toward Fike … and spoke “What kind of love is that?”.
