Have to say. I liked the new Top Gun movie

Jun 5, 2022, 1:25 AM

More than I thought I would. Man Val Kilmer had aged! Good movie for nostalgia though.

We all are aging like a fine wine!

I actually thought it was better, in some ways than the original, and in case you didn't know Val Kilmer is recovering from throat cancer, which is why he has not aged so well.

Definitely worth seeing in the theater but I liked it mainly for the nostalgia. Jennifer Connelley is still a beautiful woman.

York County/Charlotte area Tigers if you go to the Grand Ayrsley on South Tryon the tickets before 5:00 are cheap. You can purchase reserved reclining seats online for $8.79 each after convenience fees. A #2 combo consisting of 2 large drinks and a large popcorn only $15. Plus it’s in a nice area.

We usually pick a restaurant in the area that we don’t have closer to home to eat at afterwards.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

I thought it was much better than the original movie. If you re-watch the original it is very choppy, and a few scenes just seem out of place. The new movie flowed very well.

I agree. It is one of the best - perhaps the best - sequel I can recall.
I loved the Penny Benjamin carryover from the first movie. I was the only one of our group of 6 to catch it.
Truthfully, I don’t like Tom Cruise. But I do like his movies most of the time.

I think it is the modern day movie theaters that makes it better than the first. They are both somewhat cheesy predictable plots but having your seats shake when the jets take off and the camera angles made you feel almost like you were in some of those jets.

Val Kilmer wasn't acting. He's really in the health condition portrayed in the movie. The producers didn't originally have him in the ###### because of that, but Cruise said he wouldn't do the movie without Kilmer.

Not sure why the moderators don't like that word. I guess I'm not up on the latest curse words or something.

Makes no sense that it's filtered.

I agree...

although I thought there were a couple of "made for Hollywood" type scenes that were a little cheesy and somewhat unrealistic.

When the sequel was announced I thought "This will be awful"

Jun 6, 2022, 8:55 AM

But yeah - it was pretty darn entertaining!
