Haley has no credibility with the ‘rust belt’ union workers. Neither does any Republican other than Trump.
America’s self-styled intellectuals have apparently forgotten that this demographic is what elected Trump. Trump brought this historically-forever Democrat voter block to vote for him. No Trump, then much less support for the traditionally-useless-to-them Republican alternative.
Surprisingly enough, a new demographic which supports Trump is becoming more prominent: Already assimilated Hispanic immigrants who are very unhappy with the Democrat’s de facto open (southern) border policy. While any Republican will get more support from this growing demographic group than the Democrat candidate, Trump has proven that he will fight the Democrats and the RINOs to actually secure the border.
Hillary Clinton inspired Democrat partisans attempt to elevate their own poor self esteem by deriding these two working class demographics. My own brother and sister, both among the vast hoard of college graduates who got nearly useless degrees and in turn have had meager lives are among the low self esteem Democrat voters who have included white Christians among the social strata enemies because they are jealous of people who are happy and unlike them. This plentiful group of self-unfulfilled Democrat voters need to keep up with their ‘MAGAT trailer trash’ comments. Doing so will only stiffen the resolve for these ‘MAGATs’ to vote for non-Democrat politicians in general and for Trump in particular.

Who is going to trust the Department of Justice now? In the wake of Special Counsel John Durham’s long-awaited report, Americans now know there was widespread political collusion and deliberate deception from the very top of the Obama administration, the Clinton campaign, the corporate media and the Department of Justice (DOJ), all in favor of the Democrats.
Not only did they abuse their power and lie to the public, they seem to be proud of it.
With these facts now added to the long list of formerly crazy conspiracy theories come true, former president Donald Trump is essentially inoculated from any future prosecution by virtue of the public mistrust in an obviously weaponized federal government. Even if prosecutors somehow manage to get a partisan jury to convict, the public will see it as a political witch hunt predicated primarily on partisan politics.

That isn't really an accurate statement on Trump. Yes, there were some bold things he said he'd do that he did in fact do. But there were plenty more that were flat out lies or unrealistic, just like all other politicians. Politically, he really wasn't that different than the rest.

TU for that, and I'll give it 5 to 1 odds that Haley has let him borrow something.
I know Haley sets her sails to the political winds. She's very clever at it and not honest with it, either. But she's at least an adult in the room and I think she can calm down a lot of the BS that we've had the last 6-8 years.

3 initiatives he pushed that were contrary to campaign promises he made? Sure, there were some promises that never happened, but I can't think of many times where he zigged when he swore, pre-election, that he would zag. Directionally, his actions matched his campaign rhetoric, which is more than I can say for most lately.
Again, we aren't debating "Trump is awesome and his policies were the bestest (although I liked a lot of em).....just saying that on matters political, it might have been the only area of his persona where there was consistency.

Sure. First, spending. That was maybe his biggest lie. He vowed to cut the deficit but then turned around and pushed initiatives that increased it.
Next, he vowed to get Obamacare repealed and replace it. He never did.
Finally, he promised to cut taxes of every day Americans while raising the mega rich. It was the other way around.
That's just scratching the surface. He had a laundry list of stuff he either never followed through on or flat out lied about. But that's not different from any previous president, to be honest.

but there were 2 big ones that he was completely FOS on...
Healthcare - "My plan is the best plan in the history of all plans. It's sooo good." Took office - had nothing...and when I say nothing...I mean absolutely nothing. And he had been railing against Obamacare since it's inception. And provided zero leadership for a replacement plan/repeal.
Border Wall / Immigration - "I will build the best wall and Mexico will pay for it." - I think we know what happened there. And he also did nothing on actual immigration reform. He issued EO's to fan the base, but accomplished little-to-nothing in terms of lasting change.

and that really wasn't the point of my post, but sure, shame on him for those. I'm talking about policies that get pushed or implemented and are not in the same spirit, if not an outright betrayal of what was promised. Only one I can think of with Trump, and it's a biggie, was fiscal responsibility being promised and getting drunken sailor spending. Most everything else aligned.
As for immigration, true reform comes from Congress, and I think the EO's he did issue were some of his best work in making an immediate impact.

but...as with all EOs...they all almost instantly over if there is a party change in the WH.
And yes, Congress makes the law, but the POTUS is supposed to lead both in terms of rallying support, but also in terms of a national debate. That was not only sorely lacking under Trump, but he actually worked to hinder most of any productive movement in Congress in his first 2 yrs. I know I posted repeatedly on his impact on Paul Ryan, so I won't repeat that again.
What got me so much on healthcare, was it was more than just an empty promise to fix it...he said he had a plan over and over and over again...not just a slip in an interview...and then had absolutely no plan...not even a bad one or an empty one.

Last year, I started a long thread blasting Biden for his executive order against businesses over 100 employees and vaccination requirements. It was gross government overreach--and the SCOTUS later agreed. It was a quite a hot debate on this board, if I recall.

his failure to try to contain or reduce spending, his failure to get rid of many swamp creatures in gubmint on day 1, his failure to listen to Scott Atlas about covid instead of Birx and Fauci, his insistence that the vax is safe and effective, his inability to keep his foot out of his mouth, and his history of being a lascivious playboy while married.
I was a fan of his ideas around illegal immigration, energy independence, America first, busting NATO's balls for their mooching and cheating, Middle East peace initiatives, crushing ISIS in about a week, exposing lots of pubs and all dems as being part of an anti-American establishment serving its own interests, economic acumen, cold war with China, identifying the China virus for what it is, his impulse to bring manufacturing back - especially of national security critical industry, etc.
I was definitely not a fan of the soft coup against him that started before he took office and continued through his last day in office. That was treasonous and I'd love to be on a jury trying lots in gubmint on that charge.
