Who do you like for POTUS in 2024? Dem and/or Rep?

I can't imagine anybody wants Biden again, but who knows. Just curious who you all are leaning toward for 2024, and I know there are plenty of both party that frequent this board. I know it's all speculation right now about who will run, but assuming your favorites will run....
I'd love to see Nikki Haley run. I think she'd be really good. DeSantis would be as well. Same with Kristi Noem, governor of SD. I'd enthusiastically support any of them. I hope to God that Trump doesn't run again. That would be a disaster.
I'm not a Dem, but I honestly can't see anyone who really wants 4 more years of the disaster this is shaping up to be. There were plenty of good Dem candidates last time around, but I won't go into my theories of why Biden got the nod! Tulsi Gabbard would be an outstanding nominee if they really wanted to put forward a great candidate who could honestly challenge any Republican. She's young, articulate, a veteran, a minority, and is firm enough on the basics of the Dem platform, but is far from extreme and has actually been calling out the Biden administration lately. So all that means they won't let her get the nod, but she would be a great candidate for them to run and a difficult one to oppose.

I would like a smart and thoughtful candidate like Ben Sasse. Unfortunately I don't know if he has "the fire in the belly" and coming from a state like Nebraska with 5 electoral votes is a disadvantage.

Honestly, probably Haley. I'm not really a huge Nikki fan; she's about as good at compromising her beliefs to cave to public opinion as any. But maybe that's what we need. She's not an old fart, she has extensive executive experience, she can probably bring calm, civility, and unity back to the nation for the most part, and she's tough when we need her to be. She's conservative but not a raging right wing nutty.
I don't think she can make it through the primary, though. One thing Nikki Haley is not is a fringe nutjob, and that's what seems to make it through the GOP primaries lately.

That's how I view it as well. She is a competent pro and she wouldn't get all of the wingnuts and conspiracy goofballs motivated and she would bring some dignity back to the country that we have lost.
Moderates/Independents pretty much always determine

who wins. Trump won them because he was basically independent, not a career political guy, was enthusiastic and had enthusiastic supporters. Biden won them because he wasn't Trump and doesn't use Twitter. Obama won because of his youth, his optimism, his charisma and his speech writers. W won because of his leadership and his "good ol' boy" persona. Etc etc.
The majority of all Republicans will vote for whomever the party nominates. Same with the Dems. It's the independents/moderates who have to be swayed. Trump will NOT get their votes this time around. Maybe some, but not nearly what he got previously. I'd have a real hard time Biden would get them either, even if those two were the nominees again.
I think the country - left, right and center - wants some youth (Trump will be 78 in 2024 and Biden will be 82) and a fresh face with new (or seemingly new) ideas, but they'll also want some experience and a record to look at. I think everyone's tired of old white guys. Haley's ties to Trump - both working for him and speaking against him - might hurt her. Also, she's been out of the public eye a while. She's been active on the news and social media, but that's not the same. Unless she does something really stupid between now and then, Haley will get my primary vote, but DeSantis or Noem would be the frontrunners in my opinion - governors who are standing up to the federal mandates and for border security - two topics that will be big next time around. Noem comes from a small state, so that will not help her. It'll be interesting and a fun one to watch, I hope!
And that's where they will struggle. There will still be too many Trumpie nutjobs pushing for a rise of Trumpism again, and Haley would be stuck in a weird spot of either sticking to her beliefs and rejecting it, or compromising to secure their votes.
I guess it'll depend on what the mood of the GOP is in three years.
Would love to see Crenshaw run, but don't believe he will. At least not this time. Not a huge fan of Haley, but I thought she did good job with the UN. I think a Pub will win, because I think people want a moderate, and I don't believe a real moderate can make it through the Dem primary at this point. I really don't care what color or sex the candidate is.
It's DeSantis's to lose. BUT if Youngkin does ok here in VA

look for him to make a run. He has already laid the blueprint for how to win in a blueish state.
Nikki has no chance. Noem would be fine. I could see a DeSantis/Noem ticket doing well. I could see a Youngkin/Noem ticket crushing it.
On the Dem side, their bench sucks. In some cases, quite literally (Pete). Tulsi couldn't even get on the debate stage with those idiots. The Squad calls the shots. They will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to find anyone who can win in 2024. Gabbard or Sinema could actually attract non-Dem voters, but they will never get the chance.
As long as DJT does not run, the GOP will sail to election in 2024.
