I think the SEC thing has many Tiger fans confused. it isn't necessarily that they are in the SEC, it is more so that they are near southern folks.
I pull for Ole Miss, Bama, Arky, UGA etc when they are playing because I like the schools near us not that they are in a certain conference. Plus if those schools are winning it makes the USC game even better.
I pull for Clemson, Fla St, NC St, etc because they are near me in Charlotte and I would like to see them win just like the other schools. I am not a fan of So Cal, Oregon, Arizona, Ohio St, etc probably because I didn't grow up near them or watching them.
It isn't always as hard to understand as people make. What would Clemson look like if they ran through the ACC and Fla St was 6-6, NC State was 5-7, UNC, 3-8? I think most of it comes from wanting the best competition within your conference to do well so your potential victory looks even more impressive. Come bowl time, that plays into final rankings as well. I like most ACC and SEC teams except for Auburn because I still think there was something up with the whole Cam Newton thing and they got away with it.

So you're a fan of "southern conferences?" That's a bit more respectable. I hate the "I root for the SEC fans" but we all know football in the south is everything.

I pull for one team - CLEMSON . . . There is no room or energy LEFT to even have a casual interest in any other team.
OK - the ONLY exception is if your significant other is a GRADUATE of another RESPECTABLE school (see ? - this leaves out USuCk) . . . THEN you can KINDA pull for that team as well.
Otherwise - I don't give a crap if every other school loses every single game they ever play - ESPECIALLY the tarholes, chickens, semiholes, etc.
That's just me, though - I'm probably wrong.

It could be because watching any 2 SEC teams play is better than watching any 2 teams from any other conference. Even Clemson hangs their hat on playing SEC teams above any other teams they play, examples UGA, LSU, Auburn and yes South Carolina.

I flip by the sec game of the week crap every week - for years have done that . . . just like I do the big whatever games.
So 1. it is NOT better watching sec teams play each other - you are dillusional and smell bad.
AND
2. Other than the folks that have to live around all the chicken coops and step around all the chicken crap everyday in the Carolinas - who MIGHT say that the USuCk game is the most important game - and it is because of rivalry and shutting you squawkers up . . . has nothing to do with the sec - there is NO DOUBT that the most important game we have is the NEXT game and it doesn't matter what conference they play in.
And if pressed - collectively, the most important games we play BY FAR are the ACC games . . . it isn't even close.
