My first season of following Clemson basketball was 1955-56. That was the last year Banks McFadden was the head coach. Since then, we have had nine other coaches. With each new hire we thought we had a sure winner but for various reasons we were never charged with the crime of being a basketball powerhouse. I had season tickets from the 1955-56 season until the year we played our home games in Greenville due to the remodeling of Littlejohn. I've attended only one game since we moved back to Littlejohn. I have always supported our coach and team because it was Clemson. I have never supported mediocrity, I've always wanted a winner, but mediocrity defines the success of our basketball program over these 65 years.
I suppose age has something to do with our attitudes and priorities, at least I can attribute my age to these factors. I have attempted to refrain from criticizing our coaches and players. I hope I have learned enough to recognize the fact I have no control over our coaches, players and athletic administrators. Neither do I know all the facts that takes place in our program. Therefore, I am relieved of all the worries associated with our basketball program. That allows me to enjoy every win and not dwell on our losses. It does wonders for maintaining a reasonable blood pressure level.
Growing apathy is a problem for Clemson basketball.

We all know at least one Clemson basketball fan that used to look forward to and watch every game, but no longer makes a point of being in front of the TV at tip off.
Thank you for being such a loyal fan. I am not as old as you but have been around since sitting in ringside seats in the field house. It would appear our school governance is ok with being a mediocre program after 11 years of the same thing. Personally I think the stated goal of our program should be top 25 every year. But as you point out, I have no control over that.
