Tiger Walk

11

Jan 5, 2023, 11:18 AM

For a number of reasons, most not at all related to the Athletic Department, I had already made the decision to not renew Football for 2023.

I've parked in Lot 5 for almost 30 years and it was a blast.

Out of curiosity, I contacted IPTAY to get some clarification re: the effects of Tiger Walk, etc on Lot 5 parking as I had seen some folks post that there would be a net increase in parking which I found hard to believe.

In fact, I had received notification from IPTAY earlier that there would be a net loss of I believe 165 or 166 spots.

I received a response from IPTAY today. The Lot 5 alteration will result in a net LOSS of 197 spots.

Everything flows downhill, so that will result in a lot of displacements and loss of tailgating neighbors, many of whom had parked nearby for years.

I may be shortsighted, but this whole Tiger Walk deal seems like a fru fru move with little to no consideration of the negative impact on loyal IPTAY members many of whom have given a lot of money over the years.

Of course, going more corporate can generate even more money, but in the long run, I'm not sure stepping on loyal fans for something not really necessary is a wise move.

Hopefully a family will use my tix and parking spot wherever the hell that is going forward, but I suspect more and more "corporate fans."

Looks like a sidewalk through a parking lot to me. Is that what it is?

Not just a run-of-the-mill sidewalk.

It will probably have bricks with people’s names on them for a pretty penny.

We have our name in the list on the North Stands and I don't think I have ever seen it but twice so it is no big deal. Tiger Walk was just a mess because there was way to separate the team from the fans. It was hard to even get a decent picture because of the mass of people. All that was needed was security/staff and ropes on both sides and leave the parking lot alone.

That's why I am saving up my TNet Coins***

It was used plenty more than seven times when I was there. Plenty of donuts in a mustang gt by roommates and me.

I’m sorry to hear that rons. My daughter is a student and she said a lot of students are not happy about how it will affect their parking situation either, which already sucks. The students were concerned about the trees, and no one thought they’d come in and cut pretty much all of them down like they did.

I’m all for updating and keeping Memorial Stadium looking like one of the top stadiums, but the way they designed this Tiger Walk looks like they’re trying for Williams Brice.

I’m sure they will have sponsored signs posted through there too…all in the name of progress.

The Lot 5 parking lot was an eye sore and needed renovation. The plan they have in place will look first class. Yes I too will be affected but if only 165 people loose their lot 5 parking spot I'm sure they will be compensated with another favorable spot that they will grow to love. Yes, some have been there for a long time and have made tailgate friends but I'm sure they will survive the change. After all, "Change" is a never ending thing. If you are not going to renew football for 2023 because of this then you were never really "All In!".

Read my first sentence. Tiger Walk is not a reason much less the reason for me not renewing.

Good grief no. I'm not renewing because 2 of my adult kids don't live close by anymore and my wife has less interest in the games without the kids or extended family being there, along with me increasingly preferring outdoor activities myself with the ability to watch the game on TV.

Nonetheless, I still went to all the ACC home games and to ND this year..

I had already decided not to renew for those reasons. The Tiger Walk decision has nothing to do with my personal decision not to renew.

I still view the expenditure of money for Tiger Walk as unnecessary however and it will negatively impact a lot of fans, although I fully understand anyone can survive this change.

I can hit the transfer portal and hope to get picked up as one of your adult children if it will change your mind about keeping your tickets. I’m sure it will be an upgrade in seating for me hahahaha.

in favor of “new money” has been going on for years with this program.

I went to a couple of playoff games just to experience it (we earned it…sitting through 3-8 and 5-6 seasons, etc.)….
But then I was pretty much done.

My TV is not so bad, and the beer is cheap.

off of campus parking or at least to the outer grass lots. This is like the second or third time in as many years that numbered spaces are disappearing and the ripple effect is huge.

The amount of campus contruction over the last 10 years

Jan 5, 2023, 12:57 PM

inside Perimeter Rd is staggering. Seems like I recall a recent IPTAY announcement that another lot (lot 19??) was going to be lost to more University construction.

I understand that growth/demand at Clemson has increased astronomically over the last 10 years but at some point the University is going to have to look outside of Perimeter Road for new projects. The University has a ton of land outside Perimeter Road in which to grow and if they keep shoving all this construction inside Perimeter Road they are going to turn the main part of campus into an ugly concentrated mass of buildings and pavement.

Interest rates were practically zero for a decade so I guess they decided to build while they could. With rates where they are now expect things to slow down for the foreseeable future.

I moved my spot to McFadden 1. Awesome spot. They covered up our spot of 39 years with air conditioned bathrooms. Have a granddaughter who is a Sophomore and they love it. They ruined lot 5 to increase 150 spots and now this.

for something that happens for maybe an hour at most, seven times a year.

Plus "tigerwalk" is not even a big tradition for us. We have only been doing it for a few years and it's one of our most clearly borrowed traditions.

Seems like a LOT of disruption for 7 weekends a year for a 15min walk.

I get the tradition but it was fine as is. Displacing so many people from their talent spot of years for this is beyond foolish… just my opinion

It’s a TV and recruiting thing. Those lot 5 spots will become higher $$. I think it’s gonna look great and I do love Tiger Walk, but I get it regarding the parking for those that have been there for decades.
