He has been a great representative

Nov 19, 2021, 8:08 AM

for Clemson. He is certainly telling the honest truth in a respectful manner.

Wish him huge success in his post Clemson life.

A Clemson man needs no introduction!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Rencher working at the University in some capacity one day.

Give it 2 or 3 years and he could be the RB position coach.***

Got anything else to say on this board other than bashing CJ Spiller? Again, saw the headline and guessed the author. Any other opinions than the one you can’t get away from?

Great perspective by a very special Tiger. As fans, we need to appreciate the players we have had in the past few years because it is very likely that we will not see another Watson, Renfrow, Etienne, Lawrence and all the other greats we have been blessed to watch.

How lucky we are as fans to have an ambassador like Darien at Clemson.

Good luck young man. You won’t need it though. Just take what you’ve learned and apply it in life.

His words and what they implied had to feel like acid in the eyes for you. When a player says what lots of people have been thinking all season and before then even it has to be true. Sorry dude..

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What I take from this

Nov 19, 2021, 9:35 AM

is what I already knew. 16 & 4 covered up issues in this offense that ALWYS (to some extent) existed. When you have a guy in the program who has been here 6 years; this is damning to me for every person on the offensive staff.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed

Nov 19, 2021, 9:38 AM

A guy about to play his last game comes out and straight-up tells the fan-base that talent covered up coaching issues......

D@mn. At this point, I'll be shocked if no one gets fired after the season....

Nov 19, 2021, 2:30 PM [ in reply to What I take from this ]

I'm sure he is correct. OL has been subpar for years, else Etienne could have rushed for 2500 yards/year. Watson and Trevor were great in the pocket and processed like NFL QB's. And it is like we play special teams not to mess up instead of trying to put pressure on the other team. Too many walk-on players taking up plays. Not everyone can be Renfrow.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's not at alll what he said.***

Re: TNET: Rencher says in past that mistakes were covered up by great players making plays

Nov 19, 2021, 9:43 AM

I think you could take what he's saying a few different ways, and I get some people are going to take his comments to mean we've had issues in our program that great players helped to hide. I simply took his comments to mean it's hard to get 11 guys to all do the right thing on every play, but in the past we had special players that would make those things less noticeable. He gave an example of himself missing a block in a game where Trevor Lawrence ended up making a great play anyway. I think he's just saying that every player has to do their jobs on each play because you can't always count on one single great player making up for your mistake on a particular play.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are correct

Nov 19, 2021, 10:42 AM

Great players can cover some miscues. TL could scramble and throw across his body like no one ever.

We need more great players. We need our potential talent to become great.

On a personal note, I think some position coaches have been on cruise control for the past few years. All of a sudden, graduation, draft entry, injuries, have caught up to positions. Do your job, or CDS will find someone that can.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think 21 is an earnest young man and I wish him well, BUT

Nov 19, 2021, 9:44 AM

that a player would even say this speaks to some serious issues in our program.

Re: I think 21 is an earnest young man and I wish him well, BUT

Nov 19, 2021, 9:47 AM

What exactly did he say that was so bad? I just took his comments to mean players often make mistakes but whenever you're winning people tend to not notice and think things are perfect, but whenever you aren't winning as much people tend to notice every little thing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it's that he said it at all. He's not wrong.***

IDK how many times on here I said....TL and ETN among a few others just masked TE's play calling. They knew how to improvise when the play wasn't there.

Re: TNET: Rencher says in past that mistakes were covered up by great players making plays

Nov 19, 2021, 11:35 AM

Where’s all the tnet lifers having aneurisms over these comments? Where’s all the outrage? Where’s all the “just shut up because we won” comments?

Because it’s exactly what several people with “low pulses” have said all year. When said people made these exact comments, the tnet hall monitors went into full meltdown mode. They cited past seasons success and win totals to totally discount the opinions of the people that can see the forest from the trees.

Rencher comments have been echoed on this board all year, and are totally valid. There’s been problems on this team for a while now that have been covered up by great players making unreal plays and by weak competition. It’s just hilarious that when a player mentions these problems the tnet hall monitors are silent.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clearly, you are misrepresenting

Nov 19, 2021, 5:27 PM

what he said to match the bored trash calling for coaches to be fired and players who shouldn’t be on scholarship. He said none of this. Only an embosal or a coot would try to argue otherwise.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think he simply vocalized what everyone has been seeing...

Nov 19, 2021, 11:40 AM

there are serious coaching issues on the offensive side up and down from development to playcalling. Like another poster said earlier, I feel for Dabo. He is going to have to make some very tuff decisions during the offseason.

Losing Greene to UNC is probably a symptom of us being blasted on the recruiting trail because of just how bad we have fallen on offense. Every team has a bad year but just about last out of 120 plus teams? Indefensivable.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I think he simply vocalized what everyone has been seeing...

Nov 19, 2021, 2:46 PM

That was LBB that posted before. And you're right. As is the poster who says not x and o's but Jimmy and Joes. According to rank, we have the players. They can't all be rated wrong. But we do have philosophical issues and coaching issues. Because at the end of the day, we have talent coming in, are they being developed? Can we really say, even with everyone healthy, that we're wru. Not really. Even with Trevor, the last two years we've dinked and dunked our way downfield... Not utilizing our tight ends and not utilize the whole field.

In LBB's post, he stated as many of us have, Dabo figured it out before, have confidence he'll figure it out again. It will most likely entail tough decisions that's going to be tough for him to make.

Man you folks are reaching beyond reaching.

Nov 19, 2021, 5:24 PM [ in reply to I think he simply vocalized what everyone has been seeing... ]

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Great players always mask deficiencies

Nov 19, 2021, 1:51 PM

Not rocket science. That’s why they’re great players. “It’s not about the X’s and O’s, it’s about the Jimmy’s and Joe’s.”

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's right

Nov 19, 2021, 2:58 PM

I think people are finally starting to understand just how unbelievably good Watson, Lawrence, Etienne, Mike Williams and Higgins were. We obviously knew they were good, but to see the team without them and the next men up weren't ready, it's pretty glaring. Those guys 100% covered up problems with the team by simply being so good the problems didn't affect them.

This interview shows how the college and football experiences can help mold a life perspective, and Rencher makes important points from an inside perspective. What he didn’t say, and can’t be expected to say even if he thinks it, is that Clemson is suffering offensively from predictability. It is the only thing to explain such a huge drop off from last year. Same coaches and another talented crew, yet a struggle in virtually every game.

He has a better perspective than any of us. However, these players are the ones from the class in which Dabo said that he couldn't say he never had a number one class any more. The talent is there, granted most of it may be injured at this point in the season.
