Clemson Hoops dream team

Jan 27, 2017, 1:11 PM

If you could put together your ultimate Clemson basketball team, who would be the starting 5?

I think for me, it would be:

PG: TMac
SG: Stitt
Fwd: T. Booker
PF: Dale Davis
C: Elden Campbell

I'd have Booker move from the 4 to the 3, and go with a big man line up. I'd have the baddest D in the land.

Also, TMac on point, that little dude was awesome one of my all time favorite Tigers.

Is Brownlee coaching?

Jan 27, 2017, 1:13 PM

Or are we going to make the tourney? It might be important.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well maybe Browne is not a good fit for the ACC. I doubt we make it.

Jan 27, 2017, 3:04 PM [ in reply to SG is Skip Wise, no contest*** ]

minute or so of the (#10) North Carolina game in Littlejohn in 1975, his ball handling skills were so good, they couldn't even intentionally foul him for awhile, couldn't touch him.

Also, lost to the Heels as always in Chapel Hill that year 74-72. Close as I can remember to us ever winning up there.

That team was undefeated in the ACC at Littlejohn for the year, only game we lost at home was to #14 Penn (Yes, #14 Penn) 2nd game of the season. Also beat Duke in the opener of the ACC tourney, then lost to the Heels in the semis.

Skip Wise bolted to the ABA the next year, that is why he only played one year.

We beat Maryland (#3 in the nation) with John Lucas at home that year. And also killed NC State (#4) at home by 22 points with David Thompson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Horace Grant...

Jan 27, 2017, 1:58 PM

he of 4 NBA titles.

Michael Jordan couldn't beat the Pistons until Horace showed up.

Cliff Hammonds must be on the team (bench) somewhere...

ranked UNC Tarholes when he played for Ohio State? NO! He did that at Clemson. It was one on five that day, and Tony prevailed. We celebrated and were high on life that day until Dale died and killed our buzz.

PG: TMac
SG: Chris Whitney(played maybe 10 years in the NBA)
Fwd: T. Booker
PF: Dale Davis
C: Elden Campbell

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would actually take Horace Grant over Booker.

Jan 27, 2017, 10:07 PM

Booker the 6th man.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Clemson Hoops dream team

Jan 27, 2017, 10:17 PM

Greg Buckner and Horace Grant are clear starters.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If we're going to stay true to the position played in college

Jan 27, 2017, 11:23 PM

PG-Marshall/Boogie
2G-Wise/Billy Williams
SF-Buckner/KJ
PF-Nance/Davis
C-Grant/Tree/Campbell

Clemson's best players have been big men. So guys like Sharone Wright and TBook are deep depth. 14th man for backcourt help, I'd go with Whitney for his shooting. Let's go back to the old 15 scholarship limit and add Vincent Hamilton for an all around perimeter guy

Starting lineup, Grayson Marshall is the best pure PG in school history and this team needs a facilitator. Wise is the pure scorer. Buckner the slasher. Nance and Horace extremely talented offensively under the basket.

If you need defense, Tree was the best defensive center around and KJ an incredible force on that end. Nance was no slouch either.

So who coaches the dream team? Bill Foster was the best tactician in my lifetime so I give him the reins

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Skip Wise, Tree Rollins, Dale Davis, Horace Grant, David Young

Jan 28, 2017, 12:09 AM

Larry Nance and Greg Buckner off the bench.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

One of these names, is not like the others

Jan 28, 2017, 12:12 AM

How does David Young fit in that group?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Best pure shooter ever

Jan 28, 2017, 12:23 AM

Regardless of other issues.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not even close

Jan 28, 2017, 8:20 AM

I don't think David ever shot 35% from three. Just in Clemson history, Colon Abraham, Chris Whitney and Terrence Oglesby were much better. I can name a bunch of guys better.

I was always a fan of David's, being from Greenville, but David was a classic underachiever. He had a ton of raw ability but was never consistent.
