I'm in the fan club

Oct 29, 2015, 12:22 PM

Although when he was hired and early in his career I had my doubts, but I love this guy! He is fiery and classy (a combo which is rare) and he leads these men. He's not perfect, but I love that he is the leader of the Clemson football program.

I trust my gut(pun intended)and my gut tells me this is our coach for as long as he wants to be here. The reason I am so sure is Dabo embodies all that I love and cherish about being in the Clemson Family. To paraphrase the Head Quitter......"He's not Saban, he isn't Meyer but he sure isn't Spurrier" and I thank God for that fact every day! We as a Clemson Family should be grateful for Dabo

The high light of Bryant's TD was found in the extensions of those articles. So, has Bryant been timed lately in the 40. I know that his 59 is very fast, or those Miami backs were worn out bc Bryant made everyone look ridiculously s l oooow!!!

Good article. I think.

Needs to scale back on the underutilized word choices and metaphors.

All my bamer buddies down here in the great hot state say Dabo is going to the next head coach at the Great University of ALABAMA (their words, not mine). I tell them why would he want to come to this pressure cooker and wear a stupid floppy hat.... He fits well with the Tigers and I am so glad...

Re: Good article. I think.

Back in the day, I never worried about losing Danny Ford unless the Alabama job came open. (Back then, the Bama situation really hadn't stabilized in the post-Bear era.) Even if Saban were to move on (what's left for him to do at Alabama? How many championships can you win?) I think Dabo would be crazy to walk away from an ideal situation and take that job now.

I totally agree

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree, Clemson is the perfect for.

Oct 29, 2015, 9:50 PM [ in reply to Re: Good article. I think. ]

He is not under the microscope like he would be at Bama. Expectations are lower hear in and year out. We are in the middle of our best run in 35 years, why would you leave in the middle of that? As long as he wins 10 games a year, he gets a fat paycheck. I definitely wouldn't leave all of that for the pressure that would come with being the Bama head coach.

I do not see this guy as good

Oct 29, 2015, 1:23 PM

I do not see this article as good. #1 he got the term wrong and used the new version of mediaspin, i.e. Tigers lose in big games and gives it away or gets blown out. ? That is not the definition of the bogus old term.

Secondly, the term is dead. 35 straight against unranked opponenents.

I see Michaeli Weinreb as making veiled attempt to say Dabo is good... but let's say that if he keeps on winning."

his email address is michaeliweinreb at gmail.com

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that article was more about half truths and a term ESPN made up and continue to use..

Oct 29, 2015, 2:17 PM

because we are a threat to the SEC. Article portrayed Dabo as a rabble rouser, which couldn't be further from the truth.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

also, how is saying "thank the good lord" an invocation?...

Oct 29, 2015, 4:16 PM

Article kind of portrayed him as stubborn religious fundamentalist, while Dabo was the first college coach after Gary Pinkell to say he would have no problem with a gay player. Writer also tried to twist what he said after the ND game as some emphatic statement about players getting paid. All Dabo stated was the truth of what colleges can do for players at the moment. Yeah he stated he was against it, but nothing in the ND interview seemed like a statement about that. It was about challenging the players to play hard.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I did NOT think it was a good article.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree. Felt the tone was negative.

Oct 29, 2015, 6:18 PM

The author definitely doesn't like Dabo's expression of his faith or his faith-based approach to life. He also doesn't think Dabo is smart enough to appreciate irony and couldn't go toe-to-toe with the OBS in the back-and-forth jabs. What a joke; Dabo went toe-to-toe with the OBS and won. And this jerk can't let the "clemsoning" thing go. I have no use for his condescending attitude toward Clemson. Bottom line, we don't need this jerk's approval. We have Dabo and are winning, enough said.

Poorly written as well. Forbes contributor, Jerry Barca,

Oct 29, 2015, 7:16 PM

was the opposite. This is his article presented in the Forbes Leadership section. Worth noting: His 1st sports book was Unbeatable: Notre Dame's 1988 Championship as seen in his bio tab:

"I can see it on motivational t-shirts, but beyond the passion of Swinney’s comments there is wisdom you can take away:

Coaches, managers and motivators are limited. They don’t play the game. In the end, those who you lead will have to perform. Give them everything you have in preparation for that moment of performance. When the game starts it is the players who will have to execute and B.Y.O.G.

Don’t Quit: This is simple, but can’t be stated enough. In any endeavor, there are times things won’t go your way. Neither team quit last night and each had opportunities to fold. Notre Dame was down 21-3 and came back. Clemson gave up that lead and momentum had swung against the Tigers.

“It ain’t always perfect.” / “Don’t worry about our screwups.” Forget the past. All that exists is the moment at hand. In any game – or quest for a goal – there will be mistakes. How you respond to those miscues will determine the final outcome. Success comes by moving beyond mistakes and making the next best play. Any thoughts of, or dwelling, on past errors only serves to bring those mistakes into the next play, where they have no place."

Re: I did NOT think it was a good article.

Oct 29, 2015, 10:15 PM [ in reply to I did NOT think it was a good article. ]

Agreed. The tone was snarky and quite frankly this was was hard to read. Agree too that he is redefining the C word. I guess Clemson would have needed to go undefeated the last 4 years to avoid the tag. Can't lose to unranked teams and now can't lose to ranked teams. Given that the average record for all college football teams each year is .500, how is perfection a fair standard in order to avoid ridicule from low-talent sports writers?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It was a good article. I recommend.

Oct 29, 2015, 10:22 PM

Se t the guy an email after reading that...

Oct 29, 2015, 10:47 PM

Dear Mr. Weinreb,

I read an article of yours titled: "The Tao of Dabo: How to Appreciate Clemson's Coach". I found it interesting that you would use this title when the content clearly demonstrated that you have no appreciation for him, generally finding a way to mock him and encourage others to do so with each successive paragraph.

Fortunately, Dabo doesn't really care what you think. And neither do most Tiger fans. Say what you wish, but Dabo and the Tigers keep winning, hanging around the top 10 and knocking off college football's elite teams, and are only getting better each year.

Most people are starting to realize that Clemsoning is no longer a relevant term and have put it to bed. Mostly amature journalists are the only ones still clinging to it. Perhaps we can start calling that Weinrebing?

With Much Viscera,
