Positive post: Kendall Joseph and Tre Lamar looked good

Apr 17, 2018, 2:47 PM

The most unheralded draft-eligible returnee has to be Kendall Joseph. And I couldn’t be more happy. And Tre Lamar looks to be the next big time LB. He was everywhere Saturday. I look for those guys to make more plays in the passing game this coming season. My assumption is (due to increased depth) we will be very stout against the run and generate good pressure with the front four. Thusly, our LBs will have plays to make in coverage as bewildered and tired QBs try to “make a play.”

Thought Justin Foster looked solid. Pretty excited about that guy.

We have great depth at the front end, such that we should be

able to constantly rotate fresh bodies into the game at DLine, and LB's. This should really begin to show up in the second half of games, when it gets down to crunch time. This is exactly what allowed us to win the Natty two years ago, 'Bama was gassed at the end, and we were able to take advantage. The opposite showed up last year, when we didn't have the offensive talent to stretch the field, the Bama rush / blitzes wore us down.

And hopefully this year, we'll have a "generational" QB playing who can burn them vertically and not allow them to crowd the LOS. That NC game was over in the first quarter.

We will have a lot of depth

But, we were in the playoff game against Bama until our go ahead drive in the third quarter resulted in an interception. After that we struggled but we WERE in the game well into the third quarter.

Very true. Thanks to a tremendous defensive effort.

I swear it seems like 70 of our scholarships are defensive beasts!! Both orange and white had players rotating in and making plays all day.

Can you imagine having all that talent cycling in and out during a game w/o them playing on two different squads? Well fellas buckle up b/c we are in for a wild ride this year!!

Don't talk about cycling out, people will think you are Toooooddd Ellis. :)

You are right. Kendall Joseph will lead team in tackles

Apr 17, 2018, 9:55 PM

He is an underappreciated leader of this team ... and should be 1st team All-ACC this year with continued hard work. Lamar just needs to stay healthy, in shape and on the field, and he will make big waves. +1
