To go off of the post about Best/Worst Clemson game

Aug 15, 2012, 9:13 PM

What is the best non-Clemson college football game you've ever seen, regardless of whether you were there or watched it on tv.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pitt vs usc. So bad the TV went to another game.***

Boise-OU comes to mind but if I thought about it

Aug 15, 2012, 9:28 PM

for a while there would be alot more.

Clemson-Miami OT game 09 in Miami where Ford caught the long winner would be up there.

The ones with like 4 massive momentum swings in the last 2 minutes, watch so many its impossible to sort them all out in my head.

JMU-VT / AppSt-Mich both great upsets.

The Nebraska-UF national title game in 95 (Season) was a blowout but Nebraska was such a well oiled MACHINE it may have been the most physical, dominating, raw football old school fun to watch ever (if you like that style and not this spread stuff.........). I actually put that game way up thre just because of the beauty.

Oklahoma-Boise State game in the Fiesta Bowl in 2007

One of the craziest games I can remember

"Gamecocks aren’t ready to take college football by storm just yet. They’re not even ready to compete in their own state – Clemson will still own the territory. Gamecocks fans would be smart to keep their heads buried until that time. Avoid talking trash to a much better Clemson program.” -Dustin Tackett

I'll second that. Such an exciting game.

Vince Young catches hell. But he played like Cam Newton on steroids that game.

App State vs Ga. Southern 1999. Ga. Southern was #1

Aug 15, 2012, 9:31 PM

with Paul Johnson as HC. We upset them, stormed the field and tore down the goalpost.

A second would be against Furman, which became known as the miracle on the mountain. Interestingly enough, Billy Napier was the QB for that game. I didn't realize that until just a few days ago when I was looking it up.

Best Non-Clemson game in my opinion

Aug 15, 2012, 9:34 PM

Is the 2010 SEC Championship. It proves that USuCk doesn't need to be in Championship games. And they got beat pretty bad! It was great to watch. Worst Non-Clemson game...I have a few but I don't know which.

worst would be any coot win***

Nebraska vs. Florida in 1996 Fiesta Bowl. There have been much better games, but that was probably the first I remember of being truly excited to see Spurrier get beat. That Nebraska team was likely the best I've ever seen, too.

The win over #10 Miami in orange bowl stadium in 2004 ranks up there for me. Incidentally, this is also the game where the band got accused of blowing a whistle during plays, and they've started songs via snare tap ever since. I was absolutely hammered for the first half of the game and barely able to play tiger rag. Great f'in night.

OK so I semi failed; I assumed the original question was "what is your favorite game not played at Clemson". Close enough!

I need to focus on the in person viewings as there have been some spectacular NFL and college games on TV.

#1 ECU beating Va Tech in Charlotte 2009?
#2 ECU beating WVU in Greenville 2008 (Bill Stewart's first season)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This was a hard question for me to answer

Aug 15, 2012, 10:46 PM

that's why I asked others to see if it helped revive my memory of some of the classics.

-ND/Michigan from 2011 was awesome.
-Boise/OU was great.

These are just 2 of the many classics I've watched on tv over the years.

If I had to ultimately pick, it'd be Boise/OU

All joking aside, the Notre Dame vs. Michigan game last year

Aug 16, 2012, 7:14 AM

was a thriller. 3TD's in the last 1:28 maybe. As a matter of fact, I think last year had more thrillers than any single year I can remember. Although, at my advanced age, my memory is suspect.
