It's the least they could do....because they stayed rent free for years I hear.
Even used the showers with many other guests attending the camps that would come during the summer.

The joke, when I was there in the early 70's was that

Johnstone was the only "lift slab construction" college dorm in the world. This being because the only other one, at Texas A&M, had fallen down years before. It was an old joke, even then.

I remember in 1980-81, I lived in D-4 over the underpass across the street from the laundry. A bull dozer was going through the underpass and hit the building. The whole building shook, and many students (including me) evacuated for a brief time to make sure the building didn't collapse. The tin cans were a piece of crap, but man I had a lot of fun living there. From the keg hall parties, to playing hockey in the hall, to laying out on the ledge, to driving golf balls down the hall, to steam baths in the showers, to built in gun racks in the rooms... a lot of fond memories of that dump.

We bowled on D3 in 76 and 77. The object was to see who could roll the RA out of his bed. Then I became an RA. Thankless job but man did we have fun.

I was in D-3 in 70-71. That bulldozer had nothing on Tiger band on home game weekends. Tiger band came out of the band room around 10 o'clock and rocked Tiger Rag as they marched through the underpass to a practice field, I guess. There was no way to oversleep and be late picking up your date. Good, good times. My three Tiger children stayed in apartments.

Right on. Was there myself. Stayed there in summer camp programs and thought they wwere a Hilton. Then lived there in reality and had a blast. And I've lived to talk about them after all of these years. Personally, I feel privileged to have had the experiences.

F4 for 2 years in the early 80's; best memories include ledge racing, busted showers, game day morning blasting tunes towards DV (we had a HUGE speaker)

Good times. I was in C4 for it's last season of life

Took home that big square metal sign that had the big C on it or something. Kept it for years but never could figure out what to do with it. Don't even know what happened to it. Ventured into the steam tunnels at the end of that last semester. Interesting, but not all it's cracked up to be, IMHO.
Great times in Johnstone, though. F4 and C4. May they rest in peace.

Even they moved out of that dump. They moved to Columbia and Williams Brice.

I was in B8. I could walk by where the radio station was into A8 and meet my girlfriend at the time. That was cool. But about the roaches. If you stayed in Cope before they closed the trash doors, you saw more roaches that you ever saw in Johnston
