Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Nov 28, 2022, 7:57 AM

Thursday, smoked some pork loin, shotgun shells, and jalapeno poppers. My dad and his sweet came over, nice little gathering. Instead of waiting for me to call, or simply calling her self, my mother elected to show her ### via text because I hadn't called by 4:30.

Friday, slept in really late then off to Atlanta for Blackberry Smoke with The Georgia Satellites and Drivin' And Cryin' Sorry Obed, D&C just sucks and it is all that Kevin fella.

Saturday, blah. Really hate losing to that crowd when we know they aren't good still.

Sunday, brewed some beer then went to Walhalla to meet up with Shorty and his wife to see Todd Snider.

Welp, The Tigers lost but I didn't die.

Nov 28, 2022, 7:58 AM

Thursday – Smoked a brisket, Boston Butt, salmon, trout, wings and jalapeno poppers

Friday – We had a family T-giving feast. BIL smoked a turkey, all the appropriate sides and desserts were there. Ate way too much

Sattidy – Paid for overeating and watched some high school team implode. Watch more footballs after that

Sunday – Cleaned up the smoker, washed the car and blew the leaves off the driveway twice

-1 gazillion/10 (Big fat 0 Covids on the RH Scale). Other than 4 hours on Sattidy, would due a gin.

The Mrs' kids are at college together in NC, they were home for the holiday and brought a British friend with them to experience Thanksgiving. Its not like he was overly missing family during this holiday but he spent the weekend with us. Cool bloke with a funny accent.

all dad's tractor equipment and the tractor to my yard to sell.

Anyone want a 89 Massey Ferguson with a tiller, an aerator, a mini bush-hog, a post hold digger, disc thing, scratcher, box scrape, etc?

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I want the tiller, and if you had a dual axle trailer

Nov 28, 2022, 9:30 AM

I would also take that.

But I am poor right now.

May want to sell it all together to get rid of it / convenience. All those attachments are pretty valuable.

The tiller could go for over $1,000

The tractor needs work, so when he puts together the package price for us, I know it is going to be LOW AF. We told someone $8k for everything and they passed. I think that is a fair deal, but I'm not sure we will get that.

Thurs: Thanksgiving with wifeof's family, including some park time. A.

Fri: Wifeof worked. Took sonof to the local college basketball game. Twas great. Home pizza for dinner. Lots of football on TV. I am glad we played FSU when we did. A.

Sat: Truly a disgusting performance. Shame on the coaches for putting DJ in this situation by keeping him on the field. It was obvious in the first quarter he wasn't going to be effective passing. Wifeof got mad that I was yelling at TV. Post-game, Thanksgiving with my family and watched the Iron Bowl. Watched late night football on the porch with a fire going, sipping on bourbon as the rain fell. I was still pissed. Afternoon/evening A. Morning not graded due to lack of hustle.

Sun: Yet more family time. Bought Christmas tree and strung lights. Dinner was salad with lettuce from the garden. A.

Re: Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Nov 28, 2022, 8:28 AM

My weekend started with a full day of football and beers at Buffalo Wild Wings on Thursday. Friday was spent working off a hangover by wrecking kids who had a birthday party at my favorite paintball place. Nothing works off sadness and regret like firing a dozen or more kill shots at overconfident boys as their mothers complain to the manager about me targeting their groins.

Saturday is where things got interesting. My waitress from Buffalo Wild Wings invited me to watch Saturday’s game at her place. I figured Clemson would win easily so I agreed to bypass my normal game day rituals hoping the easy win would lead to some post game extracurriculars.

You need to understand that I got pretty wrecked spending Thanksgiving by myself at B Dubs and didn’t pick up on the fact that the waitress talked a lot about Ohio State. I showed up to her apartment at 11:55am to find her and four of her friends dressed up in Big 10 costumes. One was wearing a Michigan hoodie, two were wearing OSU tees, the fourth was wearing a Michigan State sweatshirt (made no sense but whatever), and my girl was wearing….yep, you got it….an Ohio State jersey (a knockoff one at that).

I didn’t know what to do, so I grabbed a beer and said that I forgot something in my car. I never returned and drove to Applebees instead. I missed the pick six but was happy to find a woman getting up to use the bathroom and not leaving something on her barstool to save it just as I approached the bar. I watched the rest of the game from that barstool, getting more and more angry with each jack and coke. I was politely asked to leave after the game and went home.

I did laundry on Sunday.

Drove home Friday

Sat - Wasted 3 quarters of football worth of time. Not much more to say about that.

In-laws came over to spend time w/ dawghater2baby, dawghater2wife and me went and ran some errands. Made burgers for the fam.

Sun - got our Christmas lights up and running

Nov 28, 2022, 8:36 AM

Thursday: ordered just about errthing from Cracker Barrel since it was just us and my Pops, and nobody really felt like cooking. First year in quite a few I haven't smoked or fried a bird, kinda enjoyed that. HOWEVER...wife still decided that she needed to make mashed potatoes (wouldn't let me do it because reasons), crack green beans, and something else that escapes me, ALL unnecessary given the amount of food we already had, and all contributing to her frustration and need to yell at the rest of us about not doing anything to help clean or contribute to the well being of the family (fuck, I love holidays, and this wasn't even for people coming over, this was us going to my dad's house).

Cracker Barrel food ended up being uncharacteristically mediocre--sweet potato casserole (one of the reasons for Thanksgiving food) was bland and unseasoned, even the hashbrown casserole was closer to "meh" than it was to "gatdam". So, whatev, had some good pours at the old man's and got to spend some time with him.

Friday: headed out around noon towards the upstate, besides a wreck in Orangeburg that cost me 20-30 minutes, reasonably smooth sailing. Watched the last lil bit of the WC game, go 0-0 draws! Walked in to Pixie and Bill's at 5:30ish to see if we could get a seat at the bar, and they actually put the 3 of us at a table. Decent meal, Calhoun Corners woulda been better. Went to The Shepherd hotel bar--dang old grownup place in the middle of downtown. Plus: not shoulder-to-shoulder crowded, no lines. Minus: not full of drunken college splittail for me to creep out.

Saturday: headed to tailgate at 8 or 8:30; procured a pair of lowers for $194 per, then got a call from a buddy who sits in the WEZ and has been scouting the ticket checking process all season (or lack thereof)--he can consistently get his family of 4 into DV and into the WEZ only scanning 1 or 2 of their tickets, so he got me and reflux into the WEZ and we sold the pair we just bought (at a loss, of course). Haven't been up there since the 2014 FSU game that was inexplicably canceled and nobody has ever talked about since; food was decent, lockers full of booze were better than decent, view was aight but not as good as sitting on a sideline.

Decided, especially after the way we played, that heading back to Chas. that evening was the appropriate play. Got on the road around 7 or 7:30, and immediately started getting drowsy. Had a 10:30ish ETA, and decided to pull over north of Columbia at around 9 and shut the eyes for 30 minutes or so. Woke up after midnight and the gas station was empty...whoops. Guess I needed it. Pulled into driveway at 1:30am.

We can discuss Clemson football elsewhere.

Not a bad weekend, but big deduction for what happened between noon and 3:45 on Saturday, so I'm at about a 7.7/16 stars for this Thanksgiving break.

Sucked. South Carolina won and our team looked like shyatt and it reminded me that we may have issues on the field for a couple of years.

I was off Tuesday through the weekend.

Nov 28, 2022, 8:51 AM

And I'm more tired this morning than I've been in a while. Spent a good bit of the early part of the week helping get Joonyer's mother-in-law settled into her assisted living (Parkinson's) and trying to stay on top of the situation with my own mother, who has taken a big decline both mentally and physically over the last couple of months with Lewy Bodies dementia. I'd say my highlight of getting out of the house this weekend may have been the grocery run yesterday. Toss the cherry on top of Clemson football and you have a nice -19/19 Covids score.

Thurs - supper at SIL house. Had a great time until the end of the night when two of wife's sisters became b!tches. Ended up walking out on them without saying goodbye. F%cK you b!tches.

Fri - not much. Met sisters bro for a couple beers, about it.

Sat - played golf with same brother. Did not play as well. Caught the end of the game, unfortunately. Literally just laid around and watched football the rest of the day.

Sun - Watched more football. Took two oldest kids to supper. Home and watched more football. Were some really good NFL games yesterday.

Overall, pretty good except for SILs being b!tches.

Nov 28, 2022, 9:11 AM

The inexcusable loss to the coots cast a pall on an otherwise wonderful Thanksgivng LOOOONG weekend. This highlights:

Wed nigh - Evan Williams and The Crown.

Thursday - Drumstick Dash, cooking, eating, family games.

Friday - hit the gym hard, turkey Reubens, a little online shopping, watched the USMNT (Stay out of politics you stupid phukks), "scouted" UNC (time wasted).

Saturday - got a nice run in, made a smoothie, settled into the game, said goodbye to lil'APM as he went back to Elon, thinking the game was in hand, watched the rest of the game, have never been so disgusted, went for a walk with the Mrs. and littlest APM, The Crown.

Sunday - got the tree out, worshipped Jesus, went to lunch with the Mrs., family time, began digging stuff out to decorate for Christmas, hung some lights, finished this season of The Crown.

Still, it all feels pretty pretty empty after the debacle of Saturday.

Nov 28, 2022, 9:14 AM

He insists upon himself.

But yeah..the weekend.

Lots of moving, work and projects. I try to only keep 2-3 projects going at once because after that it gets too overwhelming. Rented a truck and unloaded my storage place, and I now have a beer fridge again. I worked on bathroom fans and vents most of Wednesday, then went to get parts for it on Friday. I've got a barn door project and vent hood in flight now. Also replaced a bunch of rechargeable batteries in some solar lights. The batteries prob cost more than the lights, but whatever.

Wife cooked all day Thursday and the food was great, but I have no idea why she did it-There are only two of us. Good part is I was able to take some food to mom-of who got the covid and was feeling like chit.

I had a couple people looking at the rental, and paid one girl and her friends $500 to sign the lease first. I think they sign today, so I'm done with that. Not sure if I get my security deposit back or not.

Tried watching the game Saturday but was got so frustrated that every time I did we turned the ball over. Skipped from 1st to 4th, and watched the last 10 minutes or so and just shook my head, waiting for the string of inevitable texts that started showing up.

Did nothing all day yesterday, and went and saw Hans and the 86er's do their Sunday thing at the Southern. Came home, watched some TV, and here I am.

Nov 28, 2022, 10:34 AM

Wednesday got up and got packed and loaded the family into the car for the trek to Nashville. Drive sucked ### due to heavy traffic and lots of construction projects along the route. Arrived and headed straight to wife's best friend's parent's house for chili (vegan - meh). Hung out and had a couple splashes of bourbon before heading to hotel.

Thursday slept in as late as the 4 year old would allow and then hit the free breakfast at the hotel. Had a couple or four hours before lunch so we went to downtown Nashville to show the kids. Found a little hotel bar and had a couple of old fashioneds while the 4 year old sang Last Christmas to the myriad of people there at the bar. Then headed to lunch at wife's "Framily" (Freimily? Friendily?) house. Teetotallers so we snuck out the the car to have a nip occasionally. When it was time to go we headed to the Opry Hotel to check out the lights. Beautiful. Wife and I wanted a drink while we walked around and I guess he liked the tip I gave him because after I paid my double turned into a sextuple. Walked around and considered how much my tolerance has waned since I cut back on drinking. Headed back to the hotel and slept.

Friday, up and over to a wife's high school friend's house for Brunch/Soccer/Football. Hung out for a while and had a bloody mary and a pour of some Whistlepig I brought as a gift. Had a great time. Her friends, their husbands and their kids were great. We then headed back to downtown Nashville so the kids could hit up the vinyl/vintage store at 5th and Broadway. Then walked the now bustling Broadway and had a crappy dinner at Hard Rock. Headed back to the hotel and brought a bottle of pre-made old fashioned's. Finished those and slept after fooling around with wife.

Saturday the wheels came off. Woke up with my first hangover of the trip due to the hotel drinking. Then it took a nice turn when the older kids took the 4 year old down to breakfast and my wife decided she wanted to fool around. Stayed okay at breakfast and then Loaded car up and hit Center Point Bar-b-q which my wife remembers being the best Q ever as a kid. Bad omens are back. Something happened because that was some dry stuff. Drove and dealt with #### traffic while keeping up with the game on the ESPN gamecast. Bitched and moaned about that for a while. Got home pretty late and drowned my sorrows with some leftover sazerac rye.

Sunday. Back to normal. Hungover again, which sucked. But Sunday after t-giving is wife's family's cook off in honor of her late father, so rallied to smoke some ribs. Three fat racks, mild rub, 225 for 3 hours then wrapped em in foil and let em go another hour. Took off the foil and seared a little sauce on em before serving. Apple wood smoke. All good, but a little dry. Ate too many, had trouble sleeping as a result.

All in all it was a barnburner and headed towards possible perfection until the whole thing blew up on Saturday.

Would still do again if I could avoid the Clemson loss somehow. Probably would do again regardless.
