Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Mar 15, 2021, 7:52 AM

Friday night, went out for a change. Hit up Yee Haw brewing for some beer and hot chicken.

Saturday up bright and early for the oil change. Did not tempt myself with by looking at trucks. was impressed that they only suggested $1000 wort of stuff that my car needs. Experimented by making a dish called "Pigs in a cornfield" for supper.

Sunday, saw everybody crying about the time change like a bunch of weaklings. Built a bird house, dug up some giant weeds from the flower bed. Slept.

If it is going to continue sending that stimulus check. Picked up a new Bergara Ridge rifle on Saturday after a surprise deposit was discovered in bank account on Friday. Nice rifle! Thanks Uncle Sam! ?? Bought my wife a set of outdoor Adirondack chairs with a small table for the back porch too.

Other than that, I began to experience something I’ve not experienced before – ocular migraines…? What is that all about? No pain but definitely some wild “light” patterns that were “blacking out” vision in spots. Got the “sick stomach” and the dull eye ache. Interesting. Will investigate this further for sure.

Friday - drank more that I should have. Ms. Wilbur yelled at me.

Sattidy - drove down to the Edisto to visit the in-lawds. Got together with an old Milliken friend in Aiken for dinner at The Joint. Aiken was hopping and the pizzas were good.

Sunday - paid for the pizza with a bout of acid reflux. Drove home, watched golf and the selection show. Did not Grammy.

Not that bad actually.

Fri - practiced for fishing tournament and they weren't biting, ended up with 9 small ones

Sat - fished in the tourney, didn't win any money...was about 0.2 lbs out from pay. Went to in-laws and celebrated birthdays. They got me a Clemson hitch cover, but why would a man who uses his hitch weekly use a hitch cover? They are good to me though.

Sun - Church in the morning, got Msjr in for a nap, started on some concrete work. Nearly kicked my tail with 10 80 lb bags. Celebrated pi day with pizza and choco chip pie. McJr lost is second tooth by swallowing.

Friday took a half day and cleaned the house while kids were

Mar 15, 2021, 8:01 AM

at school like a true Beta (wife's birthday weekend). Went for a run/ride with the kids and home to cook dinner.

Up Saturday and drove to Clemson, wife had a call for the Clemson Women's Alumni Council so we rode while she did that. Hit Pot Belly Deli about the time the call ended, grabbed a St. Stephen and headed to Bowman for a picnic with the kids. Then we rode out to the Clemson Experimental Forest to let the kids Mountain Bike and us get a nice run in. I think we did 5+ miles and other than some frustration from the kids not being familiar with those trails and the trail that parallels Hartwell being precariously close for a 5 year old to mentally handle, it was a good run/ride. I would go there far more often if we were closer. Wife and kids went shopping downtown while me and the dog sat outside Evolve and drank beers (I think that was the name of the place). Apparently we needed alot of Clemson stuff because they bought alot. Ate outside at the Esso Club where wife made fun of me for drinking a PBR. I could have downed about 11 of them at that time. Drove home and hit the sack.

Up Sunday and celebrated Wife's actual birthday. Drove out to Col. Frances Beatty Park in Weddington for more Mtn. Biking and running. The kids know that place really well so they were crushing it. We tried to hit a couple trails twice to get over 6 miles but that was enough for the kids. Ate lunch at Chuy's and came home. Wife went to wash car and grocery store while I put up laundry for 3 EFFING HOURS. Watched a replay of the North London Derby and North London is still, in fact, 100% RED. Fuck Tottenham. Put kids to bed late because forgot about time change and fought them all morning.

Pretty good weekend, would rather have stayed overnight in Clemson though.

Re: Good morning everybody. How was your weekend?

Mar 15, 2021, 8:15 AM

Thursday: drove to Pinehurst to play golf with son of. Bought a new Scotty Cameron putter.
Friday: played #4 in the morning and #1 in the afternoon.
Saturday: played #2 in the morning and The Cradle in the afternoon.
Sunday: drove back to Gangland, took a nap, watched golf, logged on the work to take care of some things since I was off Thursday and Friday.

If you ever get the chance to go to Pinehurst, DO IT! It was top notch.

11/10: would do it again!

Mar 15, 2021, 8:18 AM

Friday, Mrs. made homemade chorizo abd refried black bean sopes and baked queso fresco with roasted jalapenos. It was a psychedelic rainbow of deliciousness. Drank Mexican beers all night and watched The Night Eats the World. Very strange, low budget post-apocalyptic thriller, but actually worth the watch if you dig that kind of thing.

Saturday, Mrs. and I kept on with our new tradition of trading picks from the vinyl collection and drinking coffee. Then, a few chores, ran some errands, walked pup, went to see RH Mom, came home and made homemade pizzas. Had planned to go jam with the cat that plays keyboard and rhythm guitar in our electric band but he ended up not getting home from work until around 8:30 so worked up a handful of new acoustic tunes since we decided that everybody in the acoustic group would pick their choice of one new tune for us to add to the setlist and start working on after our end of the month gig. Watched the last 5 minutes of GT-FSU, flipped channels for a while, and then went into my protective chamber to await the expected cosmic time disturbance.

Sunday, pretty much nothing all morning, grocery run in the afternoon, made red slaw, walked pup, had pork country ribs, roasted potatoes, and red slaw for supper. Cleaned up kitchen, watched Walking/Talking Dead, crashed.

18.35/19 Covids, wasn't the most exciting weekend and I did make the mistake of tuning into baseball games on the radio anytime I was in the vehicle, but at least we did eat magnificently.

Pretty decent....

Mar 15, 2021, 9:02 AM

Friday...daughter-of got a Papa Johns free pizza coupon for grades from school so we had pizza for dinner. Bed early.

Saturday...me and daughter-of went to Mama Penn's for pre-game breakfast. My Mom came up from Aiken in the morning, so hung out for a while at the house then went to J Peters for lunch. Then to BB game in which we crushed the #2 team in the league 40-17. Daughter-of had 4 blocks and dominated on defense. Playoffs start this we're #1 seed finishing the regular season undefeated. Post game dessert at Freddy's. Was eff'ing beat and hit the bed at 8:30. Best sleep I've had in a long time.

Sunday...up early and cook fam breakfast. Muddled around the house a bit and then took family to Spartanburg. Had lunch at Mezcal, bowled for an hour or so at Underpin Lanes (like that place), then toured around Wofford for a bit. They had a baseball game going on so we watched it from outside the fence for a while and then let son-of run around on their football field for a minute. Stopped by Whole Foods in Greenville on the way back home so daughter-of could get pomegranate seeds (?) for something she wanted to make. Did some work work, watched Avengers, game-planed for next BB game, came to the realization that I may take 5/6 grade Upward basketball way too seriously and hit the hay.

All-in-all a decent weekend.

Thursday, buddy randomly texts "hey, we should take the kids camping on an island on the Stono I've been scoping." I like this idea, lemme check with the boss. Boss is on board. 2 of 3 kids are on board. Heck yeah, we'll head out on Saturday and make a time of it.

Friday: buddy texts me at 10am "hey, maybe the dads should go out there today and stake out the spot". Also seems like a reasonable plan. Boss is on board. Have to rush to round up my camping gear in less time than previously assumed available, and me an another fran meet buddy-with-boat at the landing at 6pm.

This is where the sun was heading to the island--lil late, but still got tents pitched before dark, so we good.

Grilled some burgers, threw a few lines in the water, had a bottom rig and a floater. Lil trout on the bottom rig was the only bite of the night.

Saturday: Drop a line in the water at sunrise, because sunrise.

Lil cruise around the harbor, Elliott and Wappoo Cuts, and some back creeks, before all the derps got on the water and it was still glassy.

Wives were both late delivering kids, and when they finally got to the landing, we ran into another problem caused by not paying attention.

Had to wait another 90 minutes or to before boat could be pushed back in. Got kids out to campsite. Caught dinner.

Cooked a pound of bacon each morning, and then used the bacon grease appropriately, for eggs and taters.

Kids had a blast, found tons of shark's teeth, can't wait to go again. 12 year old had a scary moment on Sunday morning when he hurt his back over a big wake and compressed his spine or something. Scared tf out of me, too. It hurt him so bad he puked. Got him back to the campsite and he laid down for an hour, and was feeling better after that.

19She was going to let the youngest stay home because she had a few blisters on her feet from camping, and because she had some bugbites, including one on her eyelid that she was scratching and rubbing, and per the wife, "she's going to get bacteria in it and get pinkeye!" That's not how this works. That now how any of this works. That's like catching a cold because it's cold outside. The boy saw this and then tried to milk his back hurting to stay home, too. I'm like "both of you get your shit on and brush your teeth, you're not staying home." I swear, the coddling that happens in this house is just absurd.

Anyway, great success besides a hurt back and a lil sunburn and some annoying gnats. Wood dew again 10 of 10 times.

Saturday: Took the insulation I didn't use back. Turn around and spent all of that money on baseball and softball stuff.

Since when did softball pants become so ####### expensive?

Got in a fight with sister in law that night. Left. Ended up at the neighbors drinking Longbranch until we couldn't walk.

Sunday: took wife and kids to the batting cages to work on swings.

Friday: Left work an hour early. Got home in time to walk with Red and LilRulez. Pulled weeds int he front yard planters. Leftover chinese food.

Saturday: See Baptist Mens Brunch post for details.

Sunday: Got laid. MASSIVE success. Did some touch ups around the house. Had a beer on the back deck with Red. Lots of quality time with LilRulez. Cooked chicken phillys on the griddle. Grilled chicken, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, provolone, grilled hoagie and topped with some japanese white sauce (not the german version I produce)

Amazingly Amazing

Mar 15, 2021, 9:50 AM

Friday - drove up to Boyne and got into our cabin. Had tacos for dinner, kids played in hot tub and ran around the woods like little maniac's. I drank a lot of Jameson and Two Hearted

Saturday - woke up, I made a huge breakfast spread for inlaws, SIL and my family. I played shuttle driver and lunch table holder all day. About 4pm my duties were done, so I went to the North Face store and bought me a large duffel bag for the upcoming Hilton Head trip with my son. I can just put our clothes in there, wear it as a backpack and still use my walking sticks. I was super pumped. I then started drinking by the slopes. I drank a lot and then we had lasagna dinner and my wife and I headed back out and hopped the night away. My kids are amazing skiiers.

Sunday - wake up, zero hangover, which was amazing. Got kids dressed and fed and took everyone to the slopes. I then went back to cabin, cleaned it up and locked it up. Held a table for lunch an everyone came in and out as they were done skiing. About 1pm we headed home, got home, made some breakfast for dinner. Went to a buds house to watch Selection Sunday.

9/10 - minus a point to due how much pain I am in and drugs not helping at all.

Did I mention how great my kids are at skiing. Also, my son wore his Clemson jersey the whole weekend while skiing. It was awesome.

Thanks for reading.

Mar 15, 2021, 10:42 AM

Wore shorts and flip flops all weekend. That will be my attire until about October.

Friday night- Binged The One on Netflix. Not bad; its kind of a Black Mirror-esque with a what I thought was an interesting concept.

Saturday, beautiful day--LOTS of traffic. Went and got the boat but by the time I got back it was blowing 15-20 out, so I just rode my bike to the Windjammer to see Hans Wenzel do an acoustic set. It was CROWDED. Wife of reminded me it was spring break..and I'm like "who goes to IOP for spring break?" Apparently, Ohio and North Carolina have become the same state, because that's what most of the license plates I saw were from. Came back home, messed with the boat until it got dark, then finished watching "The One".

On Sunday we went out in the boat and just rode around for a few hours. It was a little cloudier but not blowing as much, but was still sort of cold. I saw people swimming, but the harbor water temp was 62 degrees. That's still pretty cold to me. Found a new place to try fishing next week. Must have had some strong tides this winter because the entrance to Shem creek changed again, and is now shallow where last summer it was deep. Boat ran perfect, and all the pumps still work. Thats a good day all by itself.

Ended up getting chithoused washing the boat and playing with my dog, and stayed up until 1 watching youtube. Tired AF today.
