Good guys/Bad guys

Libertarian here who believes everyone has the rights to own/ do whatever they want. But honest question. America now is armed more than they ever have been. The rights argument to guns is that good guys with guns will stop bad guys with guns. The left thinks that their are too many guns and that they end up in bad guys hands and want to try and stop that. So how did a bad guy with a gun get off 10 shots in downtown Boone yesterday on Fourth of July weekend, hitting two cars and thankfully only grazing someone, only to be apprehended peacefully at the other end of the street without a good guy with a gun stopping him? In this case the good guys with the gun were the police. Not trying to stir it all up, but honestly want to hear your opinions.

The good guy with a gun stopping the bad guy with a gun was just rhetoric that came out of the NRA during the Obama administration, where gun sales hit an all-time high in this country due to irrational fears that the Dems were going to ban their sale.
There is no such thing as good guys and bad guys, we are all a mixed bag and everyone in this forum is capable of committing egregious crimes under the right circumstances.
And certainly when you have one political party's extreme elements threatening violence because of some alleged weapon's superiority, welp, you know what comes next. And the sad thing is that all of these fears and animosity are misplaced and pointed in the wrong direction, at each other. They should be aimed at the system we live in, in a more constructive manner, because it is broken. but we are incapable of that, too easily gaslit by our own interests, and by that of foreigners. We are a dumb, poorly educated country who by and large are incapable of critical thought.

A lot of people own guns but do not conceal carry

Even if I am armed, I'm probably not going after a gunman in most cases unless my life is in danger. I'm going away from the shooting, not towards it. I imagine that is true for most people.

Hmmm. Not sure what point you are trying to ring up here. The guy was in a car and drove by shooting. I guess a good guy with a gun could have hopped in their car, followed him, PIT maneuvered him and then stopped him

Maybe “we” aren’t as armed as you think.
Also bad guys will have guns no matter what the laws are.
Carry on.

not sure what the question is
but here is the lp position on gun ownership
https://www.lp.org//issues/gun-ownership/Gun Ownership Libertarians believe that every person has the right to arm themselves in self-defense. The right to self defense is one of our most fundamental rights. Few people will argue against that. However, some believe that people should not be allowed to arm themselves. Libertarians strongly disagree. Imagine a small person, walking home after a late shift at work. Imagine that person is attacked by someone twice their size. The victim fights back but is unable to defend themselves against the much larger attacker. Now imagine if the victim was armed. With the help of a gun, the victim has a chance at

Here's the deal Boss.
The cat is out of the bag. Any laws restricting gun ownership will ONLY affect law-abiding citizens. Criminals will forever be able to obtain and keep guns - however many they want.
Who kills people? Who shoots people? Criminals. Not law abiding citizens, like me, who had to navigate a six month process to obtain a concealed carry permit.
Indeed, if four out of five citizens carried on a daily basis, you bet you would see more bad guys being taken down by good guys. The USA may be armed, but most guns stay in the house.
