Not because he killed people. Not because he carried an AR15. But because those who hate America are so befuddled and butt-hurt by a simple, obvious case of self-defense, and want so badly for this to be about race (when it's not), that are attempting to destroy him in the process.

I was watching freaking Sports Center the other night and they kept repeatedly showing a segment about how coaches and players “felt about the verdict.” Sports Center!!

Needless to say none of their answers were grounded in any law or facts of the case. You also had woke whities like Steve Kerr and Steve Nash saying what they felt they needed to say to appease the mob.

On a different note, I saw that Rittenhouse is living with his mom, taking online classes at Arizona State, and wants to be a nurse. I wonder if he could even attend college in person or if he would be in danger?

Not in my opinion. They talk about Thanksgiving now and were talking recipes and food today. Moreover, probably most people wouldn't be offended by it and don't even care about that segment that was so offensive to you. Fox plays to your fears and you fell for it. It was a fringe segment and was meaningless. Turn on MSNBC tomorrow, the next day, and the next day, and they will be talking about Thanksgiving like everyone has done for years. They will be talking travel, food, family, happiness. You are safe.

America (or they should). A LOT of people believe America is systemically racist. It only follows ...

Systemic racism is bad.
America is systemically racist.
Therefore, America is bad.

That's basic logic. It's not a stretch at all. The very real, complex problem of racism has been ridiculously oversimplified to that level. People who believe that aren't treated as fringe wackos. They are regularly given platforms from which to spew this nonsense. BLM is a perfect example; the founder has called the U.S. flag a symbol of hate. It's nonsense that more and more people are buying into. Ever hear of the 1619 project? America was and is evil in that, fully deserving of hate, and that was not on the fringe. There are a lot of people who believe and preach that racism is the very essence of America. Those people do not love America, and if they believe that BS, I don't blame them; I'd hate it too.

You know what’s interesting Smiling? I’ve talked to a few really old black people. You know , the ones who actually faced real racism. I’ve asked them what they think about all the racist talk now and they tell me they don’t understand it. They tell me America is a good country. They tell me we all need to live in peace and stop the nonsense.

That's pretty much my experience too.

I think we all can acknowledge that America got some things horribly wrong, and black people suffered unjustly and unimaginably because of it over a long period of time. It's also very true that there is still plenty of work to be done, but as Bill Maher says, that is not the essence of America, and we have made tremendous progress. Most people who lived through the 1960s that I know, appreciate that.

No way to know if that’s true, but a better guess than I can come up with as I don’t know how that works. Sued for $250M, ended up with less than $100k. I’m sure Rittenhouse will sue, but probably won’t get much.

If you’re talking about Sandmann, he sued multiple media outlets for a total over $800 million. CNN settled one $275M one and Wapo settled another $250M one. Neither amount was disclosed. There are still about a half dozen remaining.

Says the attorney who proceeds to conjecture on a lawsuit that he had zero to do with. I read the NY Post article and they didn’t disclose an amount. I can’t read where an amount has been disclosed anywhere. That’s usually part of the settlement.

There’s no doubt that he didn’t get the full amount. Attorneys always go high in the complaint. The actual damages would be hard to calculate and obviously a much lesser amount. However, it’s highly likely that a jury would go after a large corporation with deep pockets and send a message. There was clear malicious defamation involved.

I’m no attorney at all but I think it’s very reasonable to assume a multi-million dollar settlement was reached in each.

Sandman didn't get anywhere near that money. If the guy got 40 million he would be lucky. He just sued for a high amount. He probably got 20 million or something.

You’re giving him more than I was. I just said a few million. No way to know without seeing the settlements. I do know that those attorneys in that article sounded very bitter and unflattering in their references to him and MAGA. I wouldn’t put a whole lot of weight on their $50k estimate.

It easily could just be a few million. Maybe a million. Who knows? We just know it's nothing like what he asked for. On that note, how much do you think Smartmatic gets from Fox News for their 2.7 billion lawsuit? There is no telling, but what would the amount be if they due win/settle?

Same thing. I think that amount seems pretty ridiculous. I wonder if they can demonstrate that their sales were negatively impacted and by how much as a direct result of that. I’m sure they had some costs involved with trying to disprove these accusations and legal costs as well.

Wikipedia says they did $250 mil revenue in 2014. So yeah it’s hard to see how they were damaged in the billions.
