Going to Miami (Gardens).

Dec 7, 2015, 11:24 AM

So, headed down south for New Year's along with a bunch of y'all. Can't afford to fly all 4 of us, so we are going to drive. Any ideas on what there is to do in Miami that the kids would enjoy? I've never been there. Orlando is self-explanatory, no idea about Miami.

Google seems useless on this topic.

Miami is probably not the best family friendly place. I would try the Ft. Lauderdale area or Hollywood Beach.

There are several things you can do....

outside of just hanging-out at the beach or pool in late December.

Check-out the Miami Seaquarium or Zoo Miami.

There is also Jungle Island which is an interactive zoological park with a petting zoo.

Go to American Airlines Arena and take-in a Heat game.

There are also tons of Museums

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Have breakfast at Wolfie Cohen's Rascal House at Sunny Isles Beach. It's a very GENEROUS NY style deli with tons and tons of fresh baked stuff and all kinds of preserves to put on 'em, etc. You'll probably be full before you even order.
If you don't mind driving all the way down to Miami Miami (a good half an hour away from Miami Gardens), there's lots to do:
South Miami Beach has of course all the art deco architecture you see on TV, but there are things like the News on Lincoln to eat at- it's low key; Madonna or someone might be reading her paper at the table next to you. Viscaya in Miami proper is a neat old mansion, down by the U is Venetian Pool, an old natural aquifer that's super cold that you can swim in. It's got waterfalls coming out of cool venetian architecture. Definitely go to the park on Key Biscayne, check out Little Havana, etc.

Last time I went to Miami...

Besides strolling along South Beach and having great Cuban foods there, I went to Everglades and Key West afterward. Nothing interesting to me in Miami.

Working on the Ferrari bit now. Might take me a while to scrape up the cash. :)
