Going to Key West for spring break

Mar 12, 2015, 4:11 PM

Here's hoping our players don't go/stay safe, and also that all the women flock to the island. ??

Man I hope you have an awesome time in Key West. I've been many times and it's my favorite spot on earth(other than Clemson!). Be safe, have fun and drink a few for me!

Take lots of pigs and post them upon your return.

I'm assuming you mean pics, but Some of the people I'm going with could be viewed as pigs by some.

Duvall crawl

Mar 12, 2015, 5:00 PM

Several great bars on Duvall street. Irish Kevin's and Captain Tony's are two fun bars with a good crowd starting after lunch. Pretty good strip club on Duvall st also.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Would love to do a bar crawl on Duval. We are actually staying at a house on Duval so nothing should be too far. The more input the better. Haven't been before!

do not be as stupid as me in Buffet's club.....

Mar 12, 2015, 5:16 PM

Was in there lit up on tequila back in '96. Band was playing that was one of, if not the best, tightest band I had ever heard in a club. I said to the waiter, "hey bro, those guys need a record contract and don't need to be playing in a club". Waiter said, "ahem, sir, that is the Coral Reefer Band, they are not touring right now". I argued with him for a few and he gave up on convincing me. I wanted to slime out of the club a few minutes later when Buffet came out and sung a few songs with them.

I was in Margaritaville Las Vegas and Jimmy showed up and played a bit. He was tore up from the floor up, but he still sounded awesome.

Scooters and Tarpon

Mar 12, 2015, 8:15 PM

If your driving, stop at Robbies on Islamorada. Feed wild Tarpon, make sure you video it. Also, scooter rental is a must on KW. Go to Mallory Square at dusk. Alphonso's, great seafood and happy hour. Try a Key Lime Pie Martini. Have fun

The only reason I go to the Keys is to scuba dive.

Just got back from a week-long stay in Key West. Been there on several occasions. Lots of great bars on and near Duval St. (Capt. Tony's, Willy T's, The Bull/Whistle). The younger folks tend to hang out at Irish Kevin's, Rick's, and Fat Tuesday (usually a lot of young women there). IMHO, the best bar in Key West is The Green Parrot. It's a block from Duval and a few of the locals tend to hang out there. Of course, I'm an old fart!

If they are still there, hit these spots on Big Pine...

Mar 12, 2015, 8:33 PM

El Cacique (best dang Cuban food and cold beer) and No Name Bar (yep, that's the name) When my now-wife and I were young and unfettered, we caped a week on Big Pine. By the end, it was like we were locals. Of course, that was 30-plus years ago. They both may well have blown way by now.

Relax, have a great time and take pics ... unless the cops can use them as evidence!

Love Key West!

Mar 12, 2015, 9:44 PM

Get a good cigar at "The Cork & Stogie", sit on your front porch, and enjoy a cold Budweiser.

Bad Boy Burrito is good, and "The Porch" has a great selection of beer. Irish Kevin's is fun if you're looking to get rowdy.

Have a great time!

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions! I leave tomorrow and really want to try and do as much as I can while I'm down there. Should be an awesome week.

Stop at Robbie's at Islamorado and feed the tarpon.

Mar 13, 2015, 10:43 AM

Good place to grab a beer before the final stretch to Key West.

http://www.robbies.com/

Pretty neat place - those things are big, and will jump out of the water to grab a bait.

I think that's the plan. Whether it's on the way down or the way back, I want to try it.
