Let's get the mental facilities that have been shuttered in error reopened and the professionals that staffed same back in the services they were trained to provide.
These perpetrators of violence in mass shootings and attacks are evil and sick. We might identify one or both and get these folks that are compelled to inflict havoc on others restrained from wide public access.

I take it you're pro government sponsored healthcare then right? And you'd be happy for your tax dollars to go to mental health care right?
I mean after all if you're (a) not okay with children being murdered at school and (b) believe the gun violence problem is first and foremost a mental health problem surely you'd support government spending to provide mental health care to its citizens right?

I’m pro gun as anyone, but if anyone has evil in there heart, they’ll find a way to do it. You can’t outlaw everything that can kill people, guns, blades, vehicles, certain household products etc. Evil has no face, color, age, religious choice, sexual preference or whatever else you wanna throw in there. We all have to stick together.

How are you going to identify them as "crazies"? Who is going to diagnose them? Who is going to run the facilities? Are you just going to jail people because they're mentally ill but have done nothing wrong with no effort made to rehabilitate? That's sociopathic. You're too busy mentally masturbating yourself to the idea locking people up to actually recognize that it isn't a solution without a robust diagnosis system and real treatment, something that would require a massive shift in how healthcare is handled in this country.
Then again if you were capable of critical thought and didn't just get yourself off on the idea of punishing poor or mentally ill people you'd probably not be voting red.

We need to get all the rogue guns in this country under control. World War III looms heavy as we speak but rouge guns in the United States of America are the biggest problem we face and as Senator Diane Feinstein said, "Mr and Mrs America, turn 'em all in."
Also, we need to have gun control in the US military as well. There are probably some mentally ill people in the military who have access to guns who would go on a wild shooting spree of innocent Americans.
Actually, we need to get rid of the military all together because they are all about violence and that is what we are trying to get rid of here. Get rid of all the violence in America and the world will be a peaceful place.
We can get rid of all the bad people but to do that first we have to get rid of all the guns and then the bad people will take care of itself. LOL

! - When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns
2 - Guns don't kill people, people kill people
Any time there is any type of Mass Shooting, the liberals run up the "Gun Control" flag. Doing away with guns or defunding the police won't stop these shootings, more guns will.

of expertise. Now if you want to get Dabo politically involved to develop legislation to unscrew the current mess that is NIL and college athletics then by all means - charge up that hill.
Secondly, we already have enough "gun laws". Too many people want to hide behind knee jerk, do nothing to solve the problem "gun laws" as a quick solution in order to avoid the real tough question: what has happened in our society that is producing so many violent and angry people?
What we don't have is the courage to address the mental and moral decline that comes from generations of people being raised in a society where there is no objective right or wrong and morality is associated to feelings with no personal accountability or responsibility required. Going after inanimate objects (i.e. guns, knives, hammers etc..) is an exercise in stupidity if you are not addressing the "why" and root causes of the sick minds that wield them.

It’s called “conscious” .. 19 2nd-4th grade kids and two teachers were slaughtered yesterday morn at school. While I strongly support the right to own guns, I don’t understand why it’s wrong to do background checks to ensure “nuts” do not purchase assault weapons and unload them on innocent people, including kids.
Though not in his wheelhouse, at least Dabo’s trying to do something. I really think those who think it’s “everyone’s right”, including the psycho’s, to own assault rifles, had their young sons or daughters massacred at school; may change their minds about background checks.
It’s like everything else nowadays, as long as the carnage is somewhere else, it doesn’t matter. Praying for those families, and hopefully never to happen yet again. 27 school shootings and counting, this year alone.

You are right that we need to determine the causes. Typically, the issue is mental health. Mentally stable people don't do what he did. The question is how to stop this from happening. How can you balance individual rights and trying to prevent these situations? Background checks won't help. Banning assault weapons won't work. This shooter did it with a handgun.
To be honest, which I'm not in favor of, banning handguns would make much more sense being that the vast, vast majority of all gun crimes involve handguns. The caveat here is that gang violence accounts for the vast majority of these deaths, so, in reality, you're trying to prevent criminals from using guns illegally.

a little common sense and critical thinking will prove that..
What is critical and what needs to happen is for our country to re-fund our police to where each school is required by law to have at least TWO resource officers that are there to surveil our schools during classroom hours. Most schools i thought had this but I bet there are plenty that don't especially after all the ridiculous shenanigans from the past couple of years of politicians trying to rid our police systems of funding. This is a non-negotiable at this point. The soft target aspect is what needs to be eradicated. IF there was a security guard sitting out front in a patrol vehicle or walking the grounds this troubled kid would have either been intercepted or scared off.
