Re: Oh boy. More vaccine stuff

I don't agree with many of Nuk's opinions or antics these days, but he raises a great point that I will agree with wholeheartedly. The vaccine, or rather getting the vaccine (which I personally think is silly) should not be forced on anyone, or any penalties or punishment enforced thereof. I personally would be questioning my future if my place of employment was to state that I would be required to unwillingly receive the vaccine or face possible punishment.

Here's what makes zero sense.......

Jul 22, 2021, 4:30 PM

the memo states "....if a game can not be rescheduled because of a COVID-19 outbreak BECAUSE OF an unvaccinated player, then the team with the outbreak will forfeit and be credited with the loss."

it's impossible to pinpoint where somebody got COVID.

Let's just say HYPOTHETICALLY you actually could pinpoint where somebody got it:
So if a vaccinated player(s) gets COVID from an unvaccinated player then the team forfeits?
BUT if that same vaccinated player(s) gets COVID from an unvaccinated Aunt then the team can still reschedule?????

just asinine

yet again the COVID goalposts continue to move

Many of you are able to walk because there was a vaccine forced on anyone who went to a public school. Polio did not infect everyone, but those that were infected lost muscle operation in parts of their bodies. It was highly contagious and spread throughout the world.
Today polio has been irradiated because people were forced to take a vaccine. You can thank the older generations for taking this vaccine without an uproar so that this disease is not a threat to our generation today. What if we had the same attitude about the COVID vaccine today?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly. It’s all about threatening and punishing those who don’t get the shots.***

I get what you’re saying but the delineation is if the infected player is vaccinated or not. If the player is not vaccinated and it can’t be reschedule then forfeit.

or wearing a seatbelt in a car.

Such rules, policies, regulations or laws are for those people who simply don't or won't do the things that are clearly in their own best interest and safety.

A better analogy in regards to covid is swimming in the ocean. An enormous amount of people swim in the ocean yearly without being attacked by a shark. However, a small percentage of people "may" be fatally attacked. Does this mean that we should all be required to wear shark repellent/be punished/not allowed to swim without it? Given the analogy isn't perfect but it gets the point across.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I mean people do wear life vests in lakes

Jul 22, 2021, 4:44 PM

Even though the % of people who swim in lakes that drown is very low

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I mean people do wear life vests in lakes

Jul 22, 2021, 4:51 PM

*Facepalm* my point being that you are not forced to wear a life jacket in the lake, just as you should not be forced to take the covid vaccine or be ostracized for refusing to receive a unnecessary medical injection.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Get back to me...

Jul 23, 2021, 9:00 AM

Well, I'm back with the numbers. The chance of succumbing to a fatal shark attack in the U.S is approximately 0.09%. Meanwhile, the percentage of people who have died of covid in the U.S is approximately 0.0018% (this number is based off of 2020 UN data btw). So it would appear that you are much more likely to die of a shark attack, than you are to die of the virus. So...please tell me again where I'm wrong?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Get back to me...

Jul 23, 2021, 9:04 AM

I misspoke with regards to the shark attack, 0.09% is the total percentage of the population in the U.S that are fatally attacked per year, not the chance of being attacked. Small correction necessary, point remains the same.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Get back to me...

Jul 23, 2021, 9:18 AM

So 270,000 Americans die from shark attacks each year?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Get back to me...

Jul 23, 2021, 9:26 AM

I believe in my haste to explain the data, I have misspoke. I do apologize. The shark attack analogy overall is a bad model. Cannot delete my commments, so I shall bask in my idiocracy for a few moments and then move on.

So at 0.09% fatality and 57 deaths the entire world population can fit inside Death Valley. Got it.

The 2020 worldwide total of 57 confirmed unprovoked cases was lower than the most recent five-year (2015-2019) average of 80 incidents annually. There were 13 shark related fatalities this year, 10 of which were confirmed to be unprovoked.

To imply a new network or political affiliation outweighs my daily life experience and work is sophomoric and offensive.
I bet I've seen more death than a majority ilof the vets you applaud here as heros.. but sure, ridicule me.

There was a procedure those in power would use on those who would insist on doing things they deemed not in their best interest: a lobotomy. Seems like that is really the road we are on. Can’t you just let people be? I mean if you’re vaxxed why do you care?

I believe you are absolutely correct. The more unvaccinated people the virus has access to, the more opportunities it has to mutate into something that can elude the vaccine.
