Geez I hope it isn’t serious

Nov 16, 2019, 2:01 PM

Don’t want to see this for anyone.

I don’t think anyone should judge Saban for this, it was still the first half

I judge Saban for it. Just hope the kids going to be able to play again. Seriously, if they can’t win against miss st with a backup qb, then they don’t deserve a top ten ranking.

I would hope Dabo would never pull a stupid stunt like this no matter how bad the kid wanted to play. So yes, recruits take notice of sec coaching!

Trevor Always plays the entire first half. Not a Saban Fan by any stretch and he is going to get killed in the media but it was sound decision making to have him there at the time the injury happened. As for Tua T. Best Wished on a full recovery. I don't know this for a fact but I would be willing to bet a mortgage payment that he is insured. Marcus Lattimore wound up getting over $2MM from his policy and he was not a QB. His family is going to be fine but I hope he can rehab and play again.

I have never heard of a player fracturing a hip before, but back when I played it was full girdle under the pants.

The way he fell it looks like a classic set up for a hip dislocation. Knees driven into the ground while the hip was flexed. Intense pain (Tua was reportedly screaming in pain). Minimum recovery time 2-3 months if there are not complications (broken bones). Will need general anesthesia to get it back into place. Wish the young man the best.

Bo Jackson was done when he got a similar injury...

With Bo, they either missed or caused blood vessel damage when treating the hip, the joint lost blood supply and tissue started dying. Improved technology will hopefully prevent that from happening to Tua.

Brandon Streeter

Didn’t Brandon Streeter dislocate his hip and suit up the following week (though Tommy Bowden held him)? I know it baffled medical experts, but I think he played two weeks later.

I hate to hear that. He's a great athlete. Also, I hope that

Nov 16, 2019, 2:23 PM

people back off of criticism of Saban over this. It was the 2nd quarter. I hate it when the media is looking (like vultures) for controversy. I think such criticism is pathetic.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree. Although Tua didn’t need to be in the game

Nov 16, 2019, 9:35 PM

with Alabama up by so much, it was the first half so it wasn’t unreasonable for Saban to have him in the game.

The people here criticizing the move are only doing so because they don’t like Saban or Alabama. Dabo has had Trevor in plenty of games where we’ve been up by that much (or more) in the first half and even in the third quarter.

I had this game on

Nov 16, 2019, 2:26 PM

because it came on after Gameday, and when I saw Tua in there I was shocked. I don't understand why Saban would start an injured player in a game that they should win easily with their backup QB. I get using him against LSU last week (although I think it was kinda crazy considering the normal recovery time for his surgery), but it was clear during and after that game that the ankle was bothering him. So why put him at further risk of injury going forward when your next real competition is at the end of the month (Auburn).

Yeah he was playing well, but he still looked a bit slow and as if he was favoring the ankle. Overcompensating because something already hurts just puts one at greater risk of additional injury.

Saban seems to be cracking under the pressure or something. It's as if bama has lost their edge and they are starting to press. It all began with the 44-16 beating :)

I wish Tua the best in recovery. He's a great competitor and seems like a decent human being too.

How is this Clemson related?!?

Nov 16, 2019, 9:16 PM

I’m very sorry for Tua, his family, and Alabama, but this shouldn’t be front page news on TigerNet IMO.

It's not about a starting QB being in the whole fist half with a big lead. It's about a player that had surgery about 4 weeks ago that normally takes 6 to 8 weeks to heal, played in a game last week and could barely walk off the field at the end, and was not needed for Bama to beat MS State.

Saban's and Sarkisian's selfishness and their desire for style points to backdoor into the CFP may have cost this young man his career and millions. Even if he could throw, he still hadn't recovered enough to run at a speed needed for football today. I hope he recovers and has a further career.

First - I don't wish this on anybody. Best of luck to the young man.
Second - has anybody noticed that Ala scored THREE POINTS in the entire second half without Tua?
Still wonder why Saban doesn't put his backups in sooner like CDS? They'd probably be 4-5.
