I loved it when he was first hired. Really wanted to see him do well, and he has done pretty well, except for this year.
But his post game comments yesterday were comments that I would expect to come from an emotional kid, not the head coach of a D1 sports program.
Howard addressed the incident in the postgame press conference: “I didn’t like the timeout they called, I’ll be totally honest, I thought it was not necessary at that moment, especially with it being a large lead. … I thought that wasn’t fair to our guys.
“Basically, I addressed with the head coach that I would remember that because of that timeout. For someone to touch me, I think that was very uncalled for him to touch me as we were verbalizing and communicating with one another. So that’s what ended up happening, that’s what escalated it.”
“ wasn’t fair to our guys” ??????
Come on coach, step it up, have some maturity. He sounds like a middle schooler worried about what other people think. If I was the UM AD I would want him to be focused on why the other team scored more points than his team. I lost some respect for Howard this weekend.

This oneand his interraction with Turgeon seems to indicate some problem. Of course he has lots of kids and many may still be at home so that can wig you out on bad days

When he was hired I thought how could they go that far off the norm of coaching candidates. Then he proved he could build and coach a team beyond what Clemson has seen. Then comes this season and I’m back to wondering about this hire. I think he gets fired, but then the whole racial stuff will probably become the story, so maybe he survives with a suspension.

he hit and shoved photographers and destroyed downs markers over the years. There was no repercussions as long as he had good years. When they fell off some and hit a Clemson player Oh St fired him.

He doesn’t get fired and and both were responsible for the situation (according to ESPN), though Howard should not have thrown the slap/punch. There will be players suspended for the aftermath though the coach should be held to a higher standard of behavior/controlling their emotions.

He couldn't take the BS that goes on in the ACC. No one should have to take it.

Really? Thugness? He was 100% wrong for slapping at another coaches face. Initially he was avoiding the Wisconsin coach. The Wisconsin coach grabbed his hands and moved his body in front of his path to say his peace. That escalated the situation and should have never happened either. This says angry proud men on both sides can’t control their emotions, not thugness. If you insist on thugness then both coaches are thugs not just Howard.

Gard probably shouldnt have stopped Howard, but...

thats no reason for Howard to then escalate it. It was clear Howard was doing a 'blow by' handshake and made a quick comment, Gard kind of reacted like 'now wait a second...' which then led to Howard actually grabbing Gard's shirt...technically I dont think Gard ever grabbed his hands.
I like Howard but this was all his doing. His season is hanging by a thread, this ended up being a blowout and Howard was trying to get the score below 10 or as low as he could by feasting on some of the scrubs Gard put in with 30 sec left. Michigan had no shot to win and all Gard did was call a timeout after two turnovers and MI going full court press for literally no reason. Howard then got ticked off for really no reason bc he found it offensive Gard was still trying to coach his team while Howard was doing exactly the same.
At the end of the day, Gard is a little bit of an A-hole, like most Wisconsin coaches....however, Howard is a sore loser pure and simple. His postgame comments confirmed that and he probably deserves to be suspended the remainder of the season by the Big Ten.
Michigan also had at least one player throw a punch and Wisconsin had a guy come flying in to escalate things even more. I'd say both face some sort of suspension.
