Gamecock fan helped my roommate and I out...

Feb 26, 2013, 2:07 AM

We were stuck in a parking lot for two and a half hours in 37 degree weather, annoying rain, driving wind, and we had the help of a new friend, who cheers for the other team.

I know he probably doesn't venture to this board, but William, wherever you are, God bless you and your family for taking the time as late as it was to help us.

It is truly a blessing to get to meet other helping hands, regardless of the team they pull for; just another way to put things into perspective.

Having said all that, go Tigers!

Nope...

Feb 26, 2013, 2:36 AM

2 guys...

We checked everything pertaining to a battery issue (starter, cells, etc) but the wire connection to the battery, he offered his battery to see if the connection was bad, after about a half hour of his helping us out we diagnosed and fixed the problem, at least temporarily.

Genuinely good guy.

I've been a Tiger for 50 years and hate the "yardbirds" as much as anybody. Yet I have some very good friends who are "gamehens'" so there's no reason to pretend they're all "bad people." They're confused, but still just like you and me. And but for the grace of God, we might all be gamecock fans. So don't hate the sinner; just the sin.... :) Go Tigers!

My best friend for years after I graduated was a SCar fan

After several years, that person just turned on me--never knew why. Maybe because I got a much better job?? Who knows, but there are decent people in all team colors. At least for a while, anyway...

Therein lies the difference betwwen Gamecocks and Coots...

...and despite an occasionally overwhelming mound of evidence, there is a difference.

I have a good friend in Columbia who was in service with me and a USC grad. We used to go to games together before I moved away. Best one was sitting with him in USC section for "the catch". Our wives were sitting in the Clemson section because he said "they will be safe there."

Re: Therein lies the difference betwwen Gamecocks and Coots...

Feb 27, 2013, 11:25 AM

If it weren't for STUPID fans on both sides, the rivalry would be more fun. The coots that come on here and stir up crap, and the folks on here that seem to have forgotten that they have owned us the last four years. Who gives a crap that they only beat Wofford by 17. They beat us, at home, at night. Give credit where credit where credit is due and DON'T FEED THE TROLLS.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Very true - I had Gamecock friends who invited

Feb 27, 2013, 11:38 AM [ in reply to Therein lies the difference betwwen Gamecocks and Coots... ]

my wife and I to their luxury box at Williams-Brice for the Clemson football games for several years. I did see a coot or two up there though - and a surprising number of Clemson fans too.
