Furman game - I thought DJ looked good.

At least in the first half. The second half, the entire offense looked bad. Just very bad execution and sloppy play. I also wonder why they kept DJ in so long... maybe it was because of the poor play.

But in the first half, he went out there and executed very well. He made the right reads, right throws, etc. It's a little easier when you don't have a good defense breathing down your neck, but still, he did well.

When they gave Cade the 1 series with the first string, it just seemed like everyone was half-a$$ing it, foreshadowing the offensive play in the second half. I don't really put that on Cade, but it's clear that for whatever reason he doesn't really motivate the 1s like he did the backups against Tech.

On defense there isn't much to complain about. Furman moved the ball some but overall we shut them down as you would expect. The two things I'd like to see improve are:

1) Pressure without the blitz. Our defensive front is supposed to be all-world. Let's see it.
2) Screen recognition - no need to explain this one.

DJ looked good. In general our team looked unprepared, low energy and simply looking for a W. FU looked rested, well prepared and had some good players who were looking to make a statement.

Yep and to me that is a problem. Is best the standard or is it just some words printed on a wall? I get very annoyed with lack of focus and intensity.

When Cade was in it looked like the Keystone Cops, everybody was running around. And the inability of the defense to get off the field in the second half did not help. Furman converted too many third downs. Yes, DJ played his best football since 2020 in the first half.
