How about Jalyn Phillips? Does he see any pt at safety or is he headed for a rs? This kid had a ton of offers as a 3 star. Has good size and i'm anxious to see if he was drastically underrated by the "experts".

I don't think he is on campus, so he's not playing in spring

can't move up the depth chart if you are not here

I'm always taken by how this staff

Feb 26, 2019, 10:12 AM

Identifies and signs secondary talent late in the recruiting cycle. Coty Sensabaugh, T.J. Green, Nolan Turner, Wallace, Denzell Johnson, Ryan Carter and even Simmons and Goodrich were either last minute signees or players who didn't get discussed until January of their senior year. Granted, the staff probably knew of them, but those following Tiger recruiting didn't say much, if anything. The staff plays a nice game of poker!

Phillips def seemed to be a very talented DB that flew under the radar of most recruiting services. I don’t see him contributing too much this year with the depth and experience we have coming back in the secondary. I really wish Booth was a early enrollee, he is a straight baller and he’s got great hands, seen highlights where he lined up as a WR and he can high point a ball very well, can’t wait to see him in Clemson jersey. He will be a ball hawk for us. I can def see him being worked into rotation as the season goes on. I def think Booth will be a special DB just don’t know if it will be this year or in the future. I’m excited to see what McMicheal can do, think he might end up locking down that CB spot opposite of Terrell. One DB that has really surprised me is Nolan Turner and I’m really lookin forward to him takin another step in the right direction. He’s kinda like the renfrow of the secondary. I know a lot of tiger fans including me that weren’t too high on turner and didn’t expect him to do much. Glad he proved me wrong really excited to see what he can do next year. Also Muse really needs to work on his coverage skills. He’s a great run stopper but saw him a lot last year getting caught flat footed and being burnt deep. Bama prob wouldn’t have had 16 prob more like 9 if Muse didn’t get burnt so bad. Would really like to see him take a step forward with his coverage. Go Tigers!!!

I agree with you HunterClemsonTiger!!!

Turner has really come on strong. The kid is quick as a cat too!!! Remember back to Cle Missles sack on Tua on the 4th and Goal "roll out" to the left . . . Nolan came from the right of center and almost got to Tua before Clelin did!!! (Of course about 6 Tigers could have hit Tua before the goal line!)

The DB that has always had my eye has been AJ!!! He covers like "white on rice"!!! So glad I get at least one more season to watch him in action.

It's going to be epic . . . AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any low star ranking player that our coaches bring in, they saw something about them that most missed on. We do have some of the best coaches at evaluating talent in the country!!!

Look for K'von to get MUCH more recognition next year. Real Baller for us who NEVER gives up on a play. Hope these young corners can help A.J. and expect they will. If defense is 7-10 points worse, offense can easily be 14 points better. The best is STILL yet to come. Go Tigers!

Funny story

Feb 27, 2019, 5:15 AM

I was a 11 when we moved from LA (Mobile) to Charleston. A few months afterwards, we returned over Christmas break. When my sisters and I heard our relatives, especially cousins, speak, we looked at one another and said, "Did we sound like this before we moved?" It was rather striking! And, for those that know what the old Charleston accent sounded like (in the 60's and before), well, there's no comparison between the two. None. Zilch. Nada. LOL!

It has been a long time since I've spent any real time in and around Charleston, but back in the day when I lived there during a construction boom in the late 70's and 80's. I would at time run into people that had this unmistakable accent, and I'm not sure how they spelled it, but it sounds something like Gee Cheese, now they did have a strange sounding accent!!!

Geechee is what you are looking for.

It is definitely an unmistakable sound.
