I remember replying the day we took Coty because some including myself that after watching the brother or cousin play at UNC that he could possibly be the surprise of that class buteven I had no idea he would progress as he has. He may not have great speed but he knows where the ball is headed. He really improved these last two years. I guess that is why we see so many top notch players from schools such as So. Dak St. Yale and several schools that took chances. I realize their are a whole lot more fail but we are talking about 1 player out of 2 or 3 schollies left. Some young coaches are doing their job.

on our defense. 4.3 40.

He has improved a lot this year just because he's been the regular starter. At the beginning of the year he was a weakness, now he's a strength. That shows he just needed PT to gain that confidence.

he and Andre Branch were both Rivals 2-star recruits coming out of HS. I had never heard of Coty in Clemson recruiting for that year until he showed up on the commitment list. Shows where dedication and hard work can take you if you stay focused. The ultimate example of being patient and taking advantage of his opportunities.

Wasn't Coty a signing day surprise? Seems like I remember he was all set to sign with App State and we had a spot open up right before signing day and took him last minute. Anyone else remember this? If I'm correct, he's come a long way from an almost afterthought to what he is today. Pretty remarkable.

You guys are right. Coty was a 2-star, bound for Appy State. We took him on signing day. I watched him grow-up at Kingsport Dobyns-Bennett - also remember defending the staff decision to sign him. He's a great young man; kept his nose clean, is articulate, has a plan, works hard, and it's paying off for him. Good luck comes to those who work hardest - go Coty!

Good for him.

I hope he's drafted high. His uncle is a safety for the Cowboys, so NFL ability runs in the family.
