Former Players

Aug 25, 2022, 10:37 PM

Watched the ACC channel production on the 81' Championship team. Fun watching former players reminisce with Coach Ford. Was always curious why Levon Kirkland and Brian Dawkins never got involved in some type of athletic role with the Tigers. Both were really good in the pros as players and well known. That doesnt always equate to a good coach but both certainly have the credentials.

I believe Kirkland did work for Clemson.

He was a recruitment coordinator or something of the like in the mid 2000's.

Maybe they see how some folks are treating CJ and figure it’s not worth the bother.

A million dollar job, coaching with no prior experience.....

Aug 26, 2022, 9:17 AM

....and some folks are treating him, how?

Like part of every other coaching staff in the country that can't produce recruits?

Gotcha.

Spiller isn't making a million dollars

our coordinators aren't making a million anymore. Those guys are head coaches now

Correct, he is making $450,000.***

Yep. You nailed it.

Kirkland worked for Clemson at one time............

Aug 26, 2022, 9:23 AM

He came to one of the schools I worked at and spent some time. Dawkins was a HOF player in the NFL. I don't fault anyone for not working at Clemson. Maybe they want to live in a bigger city or do different things.

Dawkins is a Hall of Famer and has done some

national broadcasting. That's a way better gig than being an assistant coach, both in terms of money made and time spent. I don't blame Dawkins one bit.

I think Dabo named an annual award after Brian Dawkins,

and it's given out at the players award banquet every year. I know that Dawkins was in town to present the first one but I'm not sure if he attends each year or if that was the only one.
