That when he graduated on 8/26 he was among the first graduates of Clemson University. I didn't make graduation I was in a parade at Ft Gordon acting as the company commander of Instructor Company A. Long story as to how that occurred, but even on a grass parade ground if you are the 26th (last) company you are eating a lot of dust.

It was funny when I stopped by to pick up my diploma after coming back from Vietnam in Feb of 1966, the woman announced to the whole office "He finally has shown up." I had made it back to Clemson on a couple of weekends before that but of course the Registrar's office was closed on the weekend.

That is very true. Clemson had just attained university status just a short while before my class became the first with “university” on the sheep skin. Thanks for the reminder
