Did you ever think you’d see the day when we were dead last in the ACC at 2-9 in league after 4 series?

Never and definitely not this bad early on in the conference season...you never felt that way with coach Leggett and coach Wilhelm at the helm

until our hitting philosophy changes . . . and that won’t change until we change our leadership . . . THIS is what Clemson Baseball is Today . . . and, as MyfavOrange® would say, “I’ve got the Sads ” because of it.

Unfortunately I felt like DRad had taken a shotgun to our program the - not strictly for firing Leggett, but the utterly embarrassing and disrespectful way he handled it. I believe I posted something along the lines that “people have no idea what has just happened to this program at the time.” What I couldn’t have predicted when I bet that Lee wouldn’t be here more than 4 seasons is that we would fire Leggett but endorse for an extra 3 years of such an exceptionally bad coach.

I get so tired of losing series after series in the ACC. Monte, I supported the hire, but you're out of your league. Time for a change. It's gotten just embarassing.

Not in my wildest dreams

ive never had as little hope as I have in Tiger baseball as I do now. The past two years have been falling off of a cliff bad. not even competitive in conference.
a little similar to Tommy West's last season in Clemson 3-8, but it was clear t that point that the Clemson administration was not doing what it took to field a competitive team. we had been lagging behind in baseball facilities for a while, and had to play catch-up just to be average.
Big what if question, but would have been interesting to see how Leggett could have hung on for another year or two. I'm positive we would not be this bad. Leggett never had an opportunity to coach in new facilities. we missed out on a 2-3 of huge recruits when he was canned, and essentially cut all ties to anyone in Leggett's coaching tree. Monte's only decent seasons we directly a result of the players Jack recruited.

Absolutely embarrassing what has happened to this program! Monte has been saying he is “going to change” every year since he got to Clemson. He is a very “cold” with absolutely no emotional intelligence at all! When a player strikes out watch Montes reaction…every time he does not even make eye contact with the player as they walk back to dugout…really good for that confidence! To make things worse he hired his buddy Matt Heath this year who was fired from CoC because the players hated him…and Monte was his mentor! Very sad that Jack Leggett was fired…Drad really screwed the pooch on this one!

the team was quite as helpless as they appear to be in ACC competition.
Of course, the ACC has become a better conference in baseball than they ever were during the Wilhelmina and Leggett years, so there’s that.
Still, being totally dominated by “snow belt” teams like Pitt and Notre Dame should never happen.
We are just not a good program right now after a half century of being very good to great.
Sad to witness.

And I remember it used to actually be a disappointing year if we didn’t host a regional because most years we did.

Qualk sounds like he knows this program has gone to crap. Especially can tell when he’s announcing the games. Now him actually admitting Monte needs to be fired…that’s another thing.

When you know the person and have built a friendly relationship with them. I know from my experience with the men’s tennis team, knowing the previous coaches personally.

Ha those guys are on a gag order. You won’t get any of them to see a negative word about a Clemson coach. And I got chewed out on text but one of them for suggesting that Brownell should be fired, and they are all scared to say it

big difference from the "glory" years is the lack of major league pitching arms. Far from having a complete pitching staff, we don't even have that ONE guy who can dominate from the mound. In many of those good years, much like the glory years of the Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz Braves, great pitching masked the relative lack of offense. No such luck right now.

We don’t develop, we don’t adjust, recruiting isn’t bad but we always have a few guys that get drafted and don’t step foot on campus, no dominant arms, these players develop and become better once in the minors. One guy has called me out saying I don’t support and we are good. Dude I wanna be wrong but man I’ve coached and played this game. We aren’t it. Truth hurts but it is what it is!
