For the soccer fans, NCAA tourney

We just beat Denver in double-overtime at Riggs. It was round two of the tourney.
This is significant because we don't have a great recent history of winning important shoot-outs. In fact, we've been eliminated several of the past few years on PKs.
So we will play Kentucky next week.

It's insane how many shots on goal we've had the last 2 games without much to show for it. We need some finishers to come back to life.
Hopefully they'll peak at just the right time. It's been a long time since 1987.

Can't remember Clemson ever getting stuffed that badly in soccer. Can't remember anything worse than 3 or 4 goals actually. Maybe in the Adair/Noonan down transition period.

It you look a LOT at mens tourney game, there is a lot of advancement based on PKs. Advancing or being eliminated isn't uncommon because the differences between the teams often narrows as the tourney continues... I tghink a few years ago, nearly every final four team advanced by PK (or at least 3 of 4 and the 4th advanced earlier by PK). Still we have been eliminated more NOT by PKs than PKs in the Noonan era.
Our run to the finals in 2015 was PKs from the elite eight to the final. We won those. I think Noonan is about 50/50 on PKs in the ACC/NCAA advancement side.
It was nice to get some revenge vs Denver for ousting us a few years ago.
Sadly, my brother (coach) was nixed from his NCAA bout this weekend.
