How does any recruit not go to Stanford if offered?

Mar 27, 2016, 11:17 AM

Great football plus arguably the best school in the nation.

A lot of people don't fit in there with it being so liberal

Mar 27, 2016, 12:05 PM [ in reply to How does any recruit not go to Stanford if offered? ]

And not everybody wants to move to California. I didn't have a chance to go to Stanford, but I don't know if I would've liked it had I been given the opportunity and accepted.

Stanford is hardly liberal.

Mar 27, 2016, 12:51 PM

Berkeley is the more liberal of those two campuses.

Stanford is quite conservative. Lots of rich kids that come from rich families.

i agree about berkeley and although my experience is "dated"

Mar 27, 2016, 12:58 PM

a 10 year old self-eval disagrees with the notion that there's a conservative flavour to stanford.

it's an incredible school, but there are many rich kids full of ideals that wax liberal in the days of their yute.

Stanford is Liberal. It may appear to be somewhat moderate

Mar 27, 2016, 6:43 PM

Compared to Cal Berkley. Two friends of mine have sons who graduated from Stanford in 09 and 2011. They have stated many times how liberal it was during their tenure in Palo Alto, including very Liberal Professors and LGBT being slammed down their throats!

Stanford is Bob Jones U compared to Berkley.

Mar 27, 2016, 7:10 PM

Everything in CA is more liberal than SC, but Stanford is more moderate by comparison. Berkley is the epicenter of the most liberal of theories/ideas. Bernie Sanders is practically a god to them.

I thought Hoovers were made in China.

You don't need to be rich to go to Stanford

Mar 28, 2016, 2:07 PM [ in reply to A lot of people don't fit in there with it being so liberal ]

If your family makes less than $125,000 a year, tuition is free. If your family makes less than $65,000 a year then you get a full ride scholarship.

Perhaps the moral high ground at UNC or Penn State appeals?***
