Football coaches did their best job ever

this year. When you consider all the injuries, our youth, and QB position (let’s face it) letting us down this year, to finish 10-3 beating our rival at their place 30-0 this was a helluva job. It would have been so easy for the train to completely come off the track. Even though many of you criticized our coaches this year I feel they should have gotten ACC coach of the year honors. We had to shut our playbook down and find a way to win and they did just that.

The coaches recruited the QB talent

I did think they did great regarding the injuries, they are also responsible for the evaluation of DJ and TP.

Agreed. They did a great job with what they had but they are responsible for bringing in DJ and TP which were two huge mistakes.

I’ll have to respectfully disagree. Defensively very well coached and prepared all year. Offensively, no one improved, the running backs were the only bright spot and they struggled with dropping easy passes. The tight ends were rarely used in the passing game. It seems to me that this was a tough year especially from a QB perspective, but who’s to blame for that? The coaches either evaluated poorly or developed and prepared poorly. Either way it’s a coaching issue. The same thing can be said for the offensive line. Once things were tough as an offense we didn’t know what to do. We seemed to have no identity and the offensive staff wasn’t able to find one. Through it all we still won ten games and that’s a great achievement. But if our defense wasn’t as strong as it was then that doesn’t happen.

They used the strength of the team- the defense and simplified the offense so it would not beat us to win 10 games. They did a great job with what they had. However I do realize they thru poor recruiting put themselves in this situation. The one thing you have to have in college football is a QB that can run and create. In the majority of the bowl games, I saw QBs that had to run so many times to covert 3rd downs

Sure, Clemson's coaches (and most everyone else in the college coaching universe) over-rated DJU.
It happens.
USC (the REAL USC) and UGA both whiffed on J.T.Daniels. Big name recruit and mediocre performer; look for J.T.Daniels to book a lot more Frequent Flyer Miles on Portal Airways in the near future.
But it's a bit over the top to judge Clemson's college football staff as having an "issue" because they missed on a recruit. That's like saying that a student who aced calculus nevertheless has "issues" because he got one answer wrong on one test.

I think you would struggle to find where I said they had an issue. I was only arguing the point that this was the greatest coaching job they’ve ever done at Clemson. While ten wins was impressive with the way the season went there is a mound of evidence to argue against the best coaching job ever. Just stay within the thread next time.

Uh er ... my mistake.
When you posted 'either way it's a coaching issue' ... I thought you had meant that we have an "issue."
My bad, I'll stick to the thread next time.

and our coaches and players worked hard to overcome adversity.
But was 10 wins really that incredible given the caliber of competition?
Aside from Georgia, we are way more talented than every other team we played this year. Even with injuries, we should have no problem beating 12 of the 13 teams we played.
Look at the recruiting rankings for the last few years if you don’t believe me. We could arguably play all backups and be just as talented as most of the teams we play.
