ties during this 2022 regular season this year being there is no more overtimes to decide a winner for both non conference as well as conference games for the men and women...It started tonight with a 90 minute nil-nil game between the Clemson women and Texas A&M

the sport that makes me want to watch for a couple of hours to see the outcome of another 1-0 game or a 90 minute 0-0 game that is decided by 10 penalty kicks. When you watch a football game, during the game, there may be terrfic catches, break away TD runs, airborne receptions, big hits, etc. Same with basketball, break away dunks,25 foot three pointers, blocked shots, etc. Baseball....homeruns, double plays,steals,3-2 strike outs with the bases loaded, stolen homeruns,etc.etc. But, in soccer...what is there ...a few corner kicks, two or three crossing passes that a guy ends up kicking 10 feet over the net.And heaven forbid a team gets up 2 zip..because then said team sits back and plays 99 percent defense for however much time is left...JMHO. Nothing more. I've tried to watch it,even watched our entire National Championship game. Proud of our guys. But,it is just not compelling...

I don’t like soccer so I don’t watch. I’m a football, baseball, basketball and softball fan. Not soccer.

Yea those 2 missed calls were obvious, should have been PK's for both...bet they would have been called the opposite if the game had been played in College Station and Clemson was the one doing the take down

Guaranteed. Well, at least two good chances. That was a heartbreaker. Outshot them but honestly thought we'd win easily. May be aTm will turn out better than expected... Plus season opener. Hate the new rule already.

When my son was about 8 or 9 I coached him on the church

basketball team. Church team "A" was playing church team "B". When the clock ran out it was a tie game and we had about 10 minutes left on our hour designated for each game. So, I said," 5 minute overtime?" to the other coach, and he said,"No, let's just end it in a tie". I was like, NO WAY. Some of the parents of both teams were in agreement, saying things like,"no, no, both teams played great and this way no one has to lose....". I was put out to say the least. I was saying," Sure they do. Somebody HAS to lose and learn how to deal with it!". I was out voted. We have taught our kids to accept mediocrity. Why in the heck would soccer do away with the shoot out at the end of a tie game. That is about the only thing that is exciting to the casual fan. Honestly,if I was a first time fan going to a college soccer game and I watched 90 minutes of one team running down the field kicking the ball, only to have it stolen from them, and then the other team running down the field the other way, only to have the process reversed over and over....and after 90 minutes plus a halftime, they were tied and the refs said,"OK folks, we're all good, have a great rest of your evening...see you next Saturday".....I would never see a second game.

As a soccer fan my entire life

I have to say that I hate games ending in ties. I have been involved with soccer for 46+ years as a player, coach, ref, and fan. I have never understood why every game can't have a winner, even if you have to skip OT and go straight to penalty kicks. Players of all ages work hard to get to those games and deserve to have a winner. There are valuable lessons to learn for both the winner and the loser.

As for those that say soccer is no fun to watch because a 1-0 game is boring, I have to wonder if they really understand soccer. When the Braves clinched the 1995 World Series in baseball with a 1-0 victory in game 6, nobody complained that it was boring. It was one of the most exciting baseball games I have ever watched. The game could have gone either way at any moment. The same can be said for a 1-0 soccer game once you understand the nuances of the game itself. Winning is difficult because scoring is difficult. One heroic play or one mistake can change the outcome of a game thus the tension level is very high.

The student athletes on our men's and women's soccer teams work their tails off to represent Clemson University and will always have my support and I will also enjoy watching them any time I am able just as I do for any other team that represents the Tigers!

All In!
Go Tigers!

Wish I could give you 1000 TU's - it was a grudge match both ways. Great stops by either team. That said, maybe the announcers could do a little better explain ing the plays and the stops as well as the defense each team is playing.

As stated above, felt like the ladies got robbed not being able to win. Why the change? Time, injuries, ??

Will make it tougher to rank teams I would think.
