Clemson won 2 national championships in 3 years. There is only one way to go from there.
Bama won 3 national championships in 6 years. And, they didn't even make the playoffs this year. They're going downhill, too.
Ohio State hasn't won a national championship since 2014. Downhill for them.
It's called a mountaintop, not a plateau, for a reason.

They have a better history while our history is hopefully still being made. If not making the Playoffs was the end of the world there would only be 4 teams playing this year.

They also don’t under-recruit positions and find themselves offering 2- and 3-star players to fill holes on their depth chart.

They don't under recruit positions or hand out too little offers that leaves one exposed if you are told no by the handful of kids you have offered. Epitome of shooting yourself in the foot b/c you are stubborn to adapt.
Ppl don't want to believe it, but Dabo IS making changes...but not all are apparent yet. And Dabo certainly isn't going to announce it and admit we've been slow to adopt. Just be happy when these changes are readily seen...

They should be with all of the hype they get every year from their marketing partner ESPN ! Clemson has to work twice as hard to get the same respect and positive media attention.
Some think Saban is some sort of god like HC. IMO it’s because he is the HC at Bama and LSU. 60 to 70 percent of Bama recruiting is because it’s Ala… Bama as Forrest Gump would say ! I wonder if Saban could have achieved the same results if he had been the HC at other schools they are not LSU or Alabama???.
Hugh Freeze has shown he can win at schools where wins are more of a challenge.
Lane Kiffin has been successful at similar schools where you have to really work hard for Wins.
IMO Saban is overrated. One of his coaches had left Bama to coach else where but Saban did not know this until he sent a coach to his office to get him for a meeting. His office was empty and cleaned out.
Is they a possible way to use a computer program to test my opinion. Could you place Saban at let’s say NC State or Ole Miss even better the coots. Using the program project Saban’s possible success at all 3 schools.
I wonder if Saban could have the same or more success as Spurrier had at University of Coots ???
IMO because of past history the brand OSU helps to recruit its self. I believe Ryan Day will be gone within 5 years. Urban is probably licking his chops waiting for OSU to beg him to come back. ?

Are those really good comparisions? Clemson won the title 4 years ago with a generational talent at QB. No one who watched what they did to Bama thought that would be the last title that team, with that QB would win. It's hard to argue that Clemson's trajectory hasn't been downhill since. They were among the favorites to win it all last year and didn't even win their division and failed to make the playoffs again this year.
Bama was in the national championship last year while Ohio State was a botched kick from playing in it this year.

We have definitely come off that level, buts its not just b/c of generational QB play. Some #### good defenses and D coaching (lead by BV) and some stud WRs...and a Stud tailback. Its lazy to imply it was only b/c of the QB. With that said, having a great QB helps tremendously....

I see what you & everyone is saying but the crazy part is, Clemson was 1 point away from playing Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl this year. Literally if Williams doesn’t fumble the punt & the offense can just manage to get in FG range, we were in. The sky isn’t falling like everyone seems to think

When you compare us to what UGA and OSU trot onto the field...we have taken a step back. Yes, we beat usuck we are in, but we lost to an awful usuck team at home. Got thoroughly beat by a ND team that wasn't near elite. Got beat by a UT team that was a shell of its mid-season self. We would've most likely gotten boat raced in the CFP.
Granted, we don't suck and are better than most...& we haven't fallen as far as some imply. But in NO universe based on reality are we really close to UGA and OSU right now. Can we get back...sure....but several changes need to be/...or are in progress to being made. We are a bit behind on some initiatives and need to catch up

There was a really good article published back in 2019 after the bowl game with osu loss. It was about Clemson and Dabo taking the next step. I've looked for it for a year. Can't remember who the author was.
Anyway, the gist was now that Dabo has reached the top, how does he sustain it like Saban has. How to continue getting 4 and 5 star talent and maintain "our culture". Went in depth on how he could no longer use the Roy bus syndrome etc. And how he'd have to pivot.
Does anyone that's not ignoring me remember by any chance? It'd be such an appropriate read, now 2 years + .

if the entire analysis of a program's trajectory based on year-to-year results can be reduced to "winning a national championship" and "NOT winning a national championship," then, well, I guess you'd be right. But since it's not reducible to that, I'd respectfully beg to differ on that analysis.
