LOL, I think they realize the win this year was a fluke. I live just outside of Cootville but am surrounded by coot fans and I haven't heard a word about the game this year.

If you would have told me we would have went in there and:

Thrown a pick 6
Thrown an INT in the endzone
Give up a safety
Drop a pick 6
Have a scoop and score call get botched
Give up 250 yds

...all in the first half, I would have told you we were heading for another 30 pt beating. It should have been worse. We beat them, and we performed much better against common opponents than they did. So tell me, my cocky brother, what was so fluky about it??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: They absolutely know it was a fluke...

4

Jan 13, 2023, 8:14 PM

That absent the fumble by Williams, Clemson only need two first downs to win the game.

While we deserved the win, our fanbase is acting like we're going to be favorites next year and the tide has changed in the rivalry. We probably need to hold off on those antics. Especially after they just hired an OC we all wanted.

Re: They absolutely know it was a fluke...

Jan 13, 2023, 10:01 PM

That hardly makes it a fluke. It shouldn’t have even come down to that. If Ratt doesn’t throw that pick 6 the fumble is irrelevant.

I haven’t talked to anyone that thinks we’ve passed them. I’m sure there are twitter crazies. But most just think we’re closing the gap. I don’t know how you could come to any other conclusion.

One coot is rational, one coot is delusional. Can you guess which one you are?

You won the game fair and square, but even my most cocky of gamecock fans admits they were lucky to squeak that one out. They fully expect Clemson to be back next year

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: They absolutely know it was a fluke...

Jan 13, 2023, 10:43 PM

Given how the first half went, yeah, we were lucky to pull it out. Doesn’t mean it was a fluke though. We’re both good teams. Not sure why that’s so hard to comprehend. ND boat raced you, we played them to the final whistle. UT handled you, we treated them very poorly. And we beat you.

No offense, since you are openly a coot, but

1

Jan 13, 2023, 8:47 PM [ in reply to Re: They absolutely know it was a fluke... ]

The fluke wasn't that Clemson played bad enough to lose. It's that we lost to a program that has less five stars on the roster than we have championship appearances in 8 years. We lost to a team we have only dreaded playing for nearly a decade for fear that our players would sustain injuries and not be able to play championship football while they watched from grandmas basement.

Carolina played well enough to win to a team that turned the ball over almost every other offensive series by one point and still should have lost on the last series had we not turned it over again.

Call that whatever suits your ego other than a fluke, but grandad always said, "if it looks like chit, smells like chit, it's chit."

The only fluke was that it was ONLY a 1 point win.

I'm not too concerned about Riley. Ya'll still have major issues at WR and your OL isn't very good either. Based on his recent history, and the fact that he's already interviewed for HC jobs, he's only going to be there 1 year, maybe 2, before he hops to a HC gig. This was just a stepping stone for him.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that he wasn't the OC..which is why your real OC ended up as a HC in the ACC and Scott ended up at USF.

That certainly explains why Baby Beamer had to make a public statement about the hire after all the criticism from the media and fans.

The fact that you are on a Clemson board letting us know you are not worried lets me know you are worried. I would not worry about GC football either any win is a good win. Low expectations down in the central part of the state.

Jeff Scott…One hell of a recruiter and knows the area well. Will be a nice addition for future recruits to hang around while on campus.

Tony Elliott got an ACC HC job. I'd say Riley is a much bigger name than Elliott. There are a lot of coaches that get big time P5 jobs after being successful as coordinators. Ya'll just lost a DC to OU. The current national champion is in his first HC job. There are plenty of programs that would want him if he continues success. Don't be naive.

So exactly what I thought your answer would be… ignorant. Your example of our coordinators leaving after a decade plus tenure and turning down multiple offers waiting on the right one is your example of why Riley leaves in 1 or 2 years.

Try harder man and educate yourself about college football before responding. I know you don’t quite under big boy football being a perennial bottom feeder but try harder.

I’ll help, outside of TAMU firing Dumbo and Harbaugh leaving for NFL not many other jobs can compete with what he will be paid as OC and lifestyle that offers him. Most coaches at Clemson appreciate what they have and only if the right one comes open do they leave, but you already made that example for me so thanks for the help!

Just be thankful Rattler didn’t leave. Would have been a shoddy deal for SC to only get 8 wins with the money spent to get him.

Hey bud why worry about star ratings when recruiting if it does not matter. Have you not ever noticed the correlation between top 10 teams and the top 10 recruiting rankings. It matters.

Those two teams should have both turned in their helmets after that game. Yours just sucked one point less.

You might too have missed that our WR corp improved by an order of magnitude once we switched QB's post cola-gate 2022, but don't let that soil your bit. Riley may only stay a year and after that, we'll hire another winner. Personally, I'd be more concerned about the hire your neophyte coach just made at OC and the egregious attrition cola is seeing post season. While all typical trends for the chickens, it's just not as Spurrier-era-esk as your idealistic take.

We'll have so much to talk about until Nov 2023, but the one thing you can count on is that Clemson won't look like the 1 point dog your arrogant and trashy fanbase DUI'd home crowing about. Cheers, coot.

Its pretty obvious that loss was all us bumbling around with DJU, not using the RB’s, not adjusting to anything not anything sustainable by the pollo down there.

I can't get over how they think they're world beaters now after pulling off a 1 pt win over probably the most inept QB-OC duo in the country and took 3 unforced turnovers. They act like they've been the ones winning 8 straight years LOL. That'll end up being a 1 pt silver platter win sandwiched between 7 wins of ours.

Our fanbase is going to collapse on itself next year in toxicity if Riley has a great year and Loggains busts.

Especially after we just gave Beamer that huge raise.
