Is this because Vic is trying to push for more money or what? They just need to come to terms so the man can play. Seems pretty ridiculous

and the argument is probably less about the total amount and more about how much money is guaranteed and how much isn't, what incentives there are, etc.

without an ironclad contract. The NFL rookie wage scale is pretty rigid so there isn't much money they could be arguing about. But total money isn't the only thing in a contract that is important.

and pretty much equal across all in the early rnds, except for the guarantees beyond yr 1? So for us simple stupidtons its simply an issue of that ins policy against that Dante event you mentioned.

Meaning that there are fairly narrow windows that a draft pick can negiotiate. The issues are probably more around the way that the money is paid so that it doesn't count as much against the cap. I think Vic, his agent and the Falcons all have a basic idea of what the contract would be worth. But there are speciality NFL front office folks that get paid gobs and gobs of money to know the salary cap implications, so its much more complex than what I just posted.
Either way, Vic will be full go and awfully rich very soon.
