Prior year had more highlights and hussle plays

The prior year we noticed some extreme hussle plays that saved the day.
This year, there were still a few of these plays, but a lot of focus on those where it appears he didn't give max effort
I hope he grades well, is drafted high, and gives continuous effort towards a solid NFL career.

Unfortunately, it seems like that might be accurate. The first half of the season, Jayron was unreal...but he seemed like a totally different guy in the second half of the year.
His ceiling is as high as any player I've ever seen, but he needs to get his mind right. It's sort of similar to Martavis Bryant in this sense.

Not Lazy, but not Lazer Focused Either

There is a difference. Kearse is diligent about his job, but didn't show that competitive fire we've seen from him in the past. We should also keep in mind that we don't know everything going on in his life or with him physically. It's incredibly easy and tempting to judge from a distance and pass judgment with a keyboard, but there's usually more to the story.
He could have nagging injuries that make him hesitate rather than reacting with the rapidity necessary to shut down chunk plays before they go another 20 yards or turn into 6 points. There are also more than 10,000 things that could be going on outside of football that impact his focus. Let's not forget that we're talking about a 20 year old kid.

This young man possesses gifted athletic skills, and he played with fire almost his whole career. I noticed a little drop off this year, maybe due to fatigue, injury, or something else, but when he is on, he is very good. I like his size, speed, quickness and athleticism for a guy his size. He is one more gifted athlete, and I hope he lights it up in the NFL.

That's a fair assessment

I will always remember him for running down James Quick to save the game against Louisville a couple of years ago.
The whiff on the goal line against UNC in the ACCCG and the non hustle plays will fade over time.
He was a fun player to watch.

Kept waiting for him to breakout and become one of those players offensive coordinators feared and had to game plan for. Just never happened.

I kept waiting for the exact same thing, and it sure looked like that's where he was headed this season for the 1st half of the year. Thought he played extremely poor/below average down the stretch

Looks like scouts seem to remember the last game they saw...

i.e. beginning to ranks Dodd higher than Shaq when Shaq was playing on a bum knee and Dodd was having the game of his life. Quite frankly, Jayron seemed to be dogging it the last third of the season.....maybe not....but his play seemed to indicate it. If he was trying to save himself for his pro career, it may have backfired, as he seems to be judged now on the last Jayron Kearse they saw. That description of Jayron is not what I saw his first 2 2/3 years here!

I know early on in the season he was a monster, was where he eeded to be, pursued hard, was a force at the line of scrimmage. I am really wondering if he was hurt and it has never been revealed. He was a star early, yet later looked a lot more pedestrian. Not knocking him, but he just seemed off from all that we have seen prior.

Two hard lessons being taught here.
1. Stay in school and finish your gratis bachelor's degree
2. Use birth control.
