say leadcoot?

I thought he was the best player in the draft

May 8, 2015, 8:28 AM

Actually thought Beasley and Anthony went about where they should have gone...but if you watch and like film, there was no player as dominant on either side of the ball this past year in college football as Jarrett. The guy looked so much like former Minnesota Viking Hall of Famer John Randle - Brett Farve's old nemesis - that it was scary.

I saw nobody - NOBODY - get the better of him, or really even slow him down. I do remember one game where the announcers were saying: "Jarrett's having a quiet first half"...whereupon Jarrett turned around and took the next two series over and left chalk outlines of people he'd flattened all over the field.

I thought Jarrett was easily one of the top 2-3 players in this draft. "Steal" is putting it lightly. Atlanta got a potential Hall of Famer...for the price of fifth-and-sixth-round draft picks.

I just sorta shook my head, as one guard or center after another who we had personally watched Jarrett abuse went ahead of Jarrett in the draft. Are those guys just supposed to magically be able to stop Jarrett now - when they couldn't even slow him down in college - because it's the NFL? Oklahoma, Louisville, FSU, South Carolina, BC, the list went on and on - all had guards and centers drafted - as high as the first round - who we personally watched Jarrett beat like they stole something. Somehow the NFL scouts seemed to have not watched those tapes.

Okay. But when Jarrett makes the Pro Bowl as a rookie, it shouldn't surprise anybody who roots for Clemson.

+1 for the "I just sorta shook my head..." paragraph.***

heart and soul of the D last year. Both are two of my favorite all time Tigers, and both would make my "All Time Tiger D" team, easily.

While I agree that Jarrett was good, there is no way he supplants either of the Perry's or Trevor Pryce as an all time DT at Clemson.

Agree about the Perry's, but Pryce only played 1 year at CU***

He's on the two deep with the Perrys and Chester.***

But he's not tall and has short arms and small hands

The NFL is stupid sometimes.

I think the Atlanta Falcons do not look stupid!

Tony Steward in the 6th round might be one too if his knees

May 8, 2015, 10:05 AM

hold up. Rooting for him. Hate to see talented guys'
careers get derailed by injuries, like Steward and
Peake. Had always wanted Steward to have a great college
career at Clemson since his mom wanted him to go to FSU
and was clearly disappointed when he chose Clemson. Hope
he can still have a good pro career.

6'5" offensive guards and tackles are ill equipped to deal with the Jarrett bull rush , and that will be no different in the NFL than it was while he was here at CU.
Jarrett , being a former champion HS wrestler , being an incredibly driven guy , being a student of the game every damp day ...will have an impact for the Falcons immediately.
The fact that he is 6'1" and 300 lbs is secondary to the irrefutable fact that he is a fantastic football player .

I would add a guy to this list

I posted about it on Sidelines. Take a look if you'd like:

From a reputable publication that doesn't use sensationalism and canned talking points to frame the narrative and get readers. I like it.
