Can't be. That'd make Feaster the fastest man in football

among NCAA and NFL teams, would it not?

I wouldn't trust hand times

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No. 4.23 was obviously hand timed somewhere.

Aug 7, 2016, 1:39 PM [ in reply to Re: Fastest Clemson football players ]

No football player has ever run faster than 4.24 at the NFL combine since they went to laser timers in 1999. Only 13 have ever run sub 4.3. Jacoby Ford just happens to be one of them (4.28) and Tye Hill was very close running a 4.3 flat in 2006.

Where are these numbers coming from?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would not be surprised if those were the fastest, but I

Aug 6, 2016, 3:44 PM

do not think those times are legit.

Then I run a 4.5 & will be 71 in November.***

Who's fastest in pads w/ ball in his hands?

Aug 6, 2016, 3:48 PM

That's pretty much all that matters.

Jacoby Ford was faster than CJ Spiller in track, but on the football field with the ball in his hands and the goal line in sight, no Tiger was ever faster than CJ Spiller.

Pure track speed is so over-rated in football.

Unless Maybe They're Bo Jackson..Stephen Davis..Deon Sanders***

Aug 6, 2016, 10:44 PM [ in reply to Who's fastest in pads w/ ball in his hands? ]

Jacoby was always catching up to CJ when he scoring, but Jacoby wasn't carrying the ball.

Great point!

Aug 7, 2016, 9:39 AM [ in reply to Who's fastest in pads w/ ball in his hands? ]

Terry Allen was probably the fourth fastest back in track speed on that team, but for the first three steps to the line was the fastest man I've ever seen. Rodney had to use all his height and arm length to get him the ball.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lets say Tavien is .15 slower than that time, that's still sub 4.4. Unreal.***

Exactly. Whether he's THE fastest, or if there are 40 guys

Aug 6, 2016, 4:04 PM

"faster" than him, he's still blazing fast. For what it's worth, he had the second fastest 100m time in the whole country at one time last year. His speed is truly elite, it's real, and it's undeniable.

It would not be a stretch to think he may be the fastest football player in the nation. He was the fastest football player in the nation in high school. He just happens to be as highly decorated in football as he is in track.

Guessing times*

Feaster-4.34
Scott- 4.38
Cain-4.40
Gallman 4.41
McCloud- 4.45

I don't think Gallman is among that group.***

I believe Jerry Butler ran a 4.23. He beat Harvey Glance in the 60 yd Dash. Harvey was world record 100 (m /yd?) at the time.

I thought you meant that 4.23 was laser timed.

You can probably add about .1 to all of those to make

them more realistic.

I record times from recruiting sites, combines, the Opening and various other sources during the recruiting process. Don't know how many are accurate or how they were measured, but I have sub 4.4 times for 8 players on the current roster. Even if these times are a little off, you would have to admit this is an impressive list of jackrabbits. Catch us if you can!!

Re: Fastest Clemson football players

Aug 7, 2016, 3:25 PM

Feaster is the fastest and it's scary to think because he will be a true freshman. Look up his 100m dash from track and you'll see he ran a 10.4 which is incredible for a high schooler! He had the 2nd fastest time nationally as a junior! But I think in the 4.3 range would be Cain, McCloud, Fields. Wouldn't doubt if Feaster can run around a 4.28 ether way he'll just get faster! To many tigers run 4.4 so no chance I'm putting all the names on here haha
