It's a necessary lie for Trump supporters. You must attack the credibility of your opponent, especially when things are looking bad for you. In an authoritarian take over, it's also imperative to control the primary law enforcement agencies in your nation without any chance of checks and balances.
What Trump and Co. hope will happen is that this will somehow allow them to take more control over the FBI and the rest of the judicial department so they can create a stronger executive branch that isn't accountable to anyone, or at least not law enforcement. Then they can use that against Congress.
It's a spectacular lie. And you all know it's a lie. But you also know it's a lie that must be told to enhance Trump's power.

regulation cuts, I like his immigration policies.
I don't like that he's put more and more neocons in prominent jobs. I didn't support the attack on Syria or the move of the embassy to Jerusalem. I don't like his tweeting habits or the way he has treated and discussed women.
He's not a NAZI or Hitler. He's no more "authoritarian" than Obama or Bush - although thats a low bar on both accounts.
It is possible to defend an administration without supporting all of the administrations positions or actions. Not everything he does is outrageous.

He's not a Nazi or a Hitler, but he embraces fascist ideology.
He is a lot more authoritarian than the other two. I'm not saying those two weren't to a degree, but they certainly weren't as open about their desire to take more control and curb freedom in the process.
But yeah, he's been bringing back some of those old neocons. So much for swamp draining.
