Are they laying the groundwork for govt. price fixing here?

Dec 1, 2021, 9:56 AM

Surely they don't think they'll be able to make anything better? If I had any decision making abilities in these companies I think it'd be too tempting to tell the FTC it will take 55 years to provide this data and then redact anything of importance. Govt. would probably get all uppity getting a taste of their own medicine though.

Nixon tried it. Dumped money into circulation, tried to stop

the resulting inflation with wage/price controls, was an unmitigated disaster. Ford then called it "WIN": Whip Inflation Now. Is generally considered to be one of the greatest govt boondoggles ever. We're doing half of it again now. Apparently are about to implement the second half. We've seen this movie. Doesn't end well.

Speaking of price gauging at Amazon

Dec 1, 2021, 10:23 AM

an RTX 3080 video card for content creators used to cost 1299 on amazon, now it is 2000. I am not seeing a shortage here, possibly something else is causing this?

Material cost is driving a lot of the increase

Dec 1, 2021, 10:34 AM

Even if the actual chip component price is unchanged, all of the equipment necessary to manufacture them has gone up considerably over the past couple of months. I haven't seen a robot price increase yet, but vacuum cups, tooling, controls, etc. is all up and finding somebody to integrate it within 6 months is basically impossible. And lead times to get those things are getting longer and longer.

gov officials and talking heads in the media talk about supply chain and logistics. ####### morons.

If there's any market vertical where .gov needs to stay the #### out, it's this one.

It's not Walmart's fault for having empty shelves right now anymore than it is the government's. What're they gonna do? Investigate themselves for chicken #### policy? Hold international parties accountable for production disruptions? Blame the big bad companies that they're subsidizing to do ####, now? ####### ridiculous.

They're just now doing a study? Well good, b/c #### hasn't even gotten ramped up yet. China's PPI is over 13%, ours is over 9%...labor market is in the ditch, cost of materials to move boxes is higher than giraffe #####. Buckle up #######, we just getting started. I've been screaming about this for over a year.

So Europe doesn’t have MAP

Dec 1, 2021, 10:56 AM

pricing structure like we do here in the US and commerce is completely fine. I wonder if MAP pricing just needs to be eliminated.

Doesn’t fix the supply chain issue, but would help in our shopping habits. The true, “may the best man win” scenario.

Inflation will rise even faster.

It might just send us in to a recession.
