Climate change

Dec 8, 2021, 5:09 PM

The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from the Consulate at Bergen, Norway.

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard of temperatures in the Arctic zone.

Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes.

Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.

Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coast cities uninhabitable.

This report was from November 2, 1922, as reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post 99 years ago.

Checked snopes. They even say its true.

For FBCoach's benefit, the reason this post is interesting is because 100 years ago the same type dumba$$es that said this then are saying it now. And, uh, it did not come true. So, what this subtlety points to is your belief in climate change is highly suspect. Get it?

I just met a guy from Minnesota. They had more days above 90 this past summer than we did in the big city of Pendleton, SC. So Minnesota had climate change but we didn’t?? Huh? What?? Weather patterns cycle and change year to year and decade to decade. Always have, always will.

even if the polar ice caps did melt, the excess water would just drain off the sides and into space.

So it's your position that the approximately 18,000 climatologists out there - and the hundreds of thousands of other scientists doing climate-related research - are in actuality very stupid and know absolutely nothing?

Fascinating.

Exxon's own studies agree with those scientists.

Dec 8, 2021, 9:37 PM

who butter's Exxon's bread? Seems more likely that there is a clear financial motive to deny climate change.

On a related topic, when the ozone layer hole was becoming a problem did you also deny that?
