I complained about DJ on this board several times

last year. But DJ played a complete game yesterday and is the reason the Tigers won the game. After rewatching the game, I see throws he made that were NFL caliber.
I am happy to be eating crow and though I complained about some of his performances I was always hoping he would the QB we saw yesterday.

DJ is exactly what he's been since the first of last year.

The major difference is that our DC has taken from the playbook everything DJ can't do. His passing accuracy is still limited to receivers standing in one place or moving directly or almost directly away from him. There was no RPO or option read. All the decisions were made from the sidelines and the checkdowns were signaled in.
The couple incidents of him hitting a laterally moving target was due to him having 6+ seconds to set up camp when our o-line completely blocked Wake out of our backfield.
I attribute his success yesterday to our DC having removed all plays which DJ has proven incapable of handling.
Another dominating factor as to why DJ looked good at times was the fact that Wake Forest is soft. Wake was determined to play hard in the box to stop the run and got away with more than one no calls on PI.

You, me and a lot of others criticized his play last year. Of course, much of it deserved criticism. I'm glad his work is paying off.
Another thing that deserved criticism is the personal attacks that some people posted. Some people forget that these are real young men behind the uniforms with other responsibilities outside football.

DJ has handled this great. A lot of people would have caved in.
Proud of him.
He is definitely our QB.

Have been critical of play but never his desire. He seems to be of high character and a hard worker whom his team mates love.
My expectations of the young man led to my criticism and it was more in terms of I was unsure if his strengths were not conducive to the scheme that we run.
His mobility is needed in this offense, and that I had a lot of questions about.
Proud of the young man. I’m sure he hears the critics and does not seem to let it bother him. Improvement from week to week is all that can be asked because his desire to be great seems obvious.

Why would you eat crow? DJ was pedestrian at best last year. Unless of course you went overboard by stating that he would never be any good…

That is why we were so frustrated with his lack of performance last season. It is all coming together now or at least I hope that is the case. He played a complete game yesterday. Well done DJ.

DJ had a GREAT game yesterday. He saved our bacon. All credit to him.
I am still a bit skeptical about him going forward. I think he still has weaknesses that can be exploited by a good DC. We will learn more this week against NC State.
