Screw waiting on ND. Let ND stay independent and move to 24 anyway

Let them have their NBC deal only. Make them play a 12 game schedule vs only P2 for a shot at the playoff. Give them 6 OOC games annually vs B1G and SEC each. Fox and ESPN both get the rights to 3 ND away games every season. If they finish with a better record than the 8th best team in either conference, ND gets that team’s spot in a 16-team playoff.

Both Fox and ESPN get some ND games on their networks, and neither B1G nor SEC have to worry about the other bagging ND. ND has to prove their worthiness against both conferences to get a shot at the Playoff. Fans from both conferences will tune into all ND games and root for whomever is playing them that week to keep them out. They can move all their other sports to the new Catholic-heavy Big East.

The entire country vs. Notre Dame every week. Everybody wins. And ratings are through the roof.

Geography says SEC. Academics says Big 10.

Throw in the fact that we actually have a moral compass, and the SEC becomes even worse as a fit.

I don't believe Notre Dame will ever join a conference and ESPN and Fox will make it clear to all their conferences that if Norte Dame ask to come and play in one of your stadiums the answer better be yes.

Alot of people hate the Cowboys and Yankees but you still watch them even if it's to see them lose.

Give them their coveted independence, but at a price that benefits all involved. Both networks get some inventory out of them, plus they must prove against both conferences that they are worthy of a spot in an expanded playoff instead of a schedule they get to choose freely (unlike the rest of the big boys obligated by a conference).

If a 12 game schedule is asking too much, make it 10 (2H / 3A vs SEC, 3H / 2A vs B1G one year, swap the next). They can still play Navy or whomever else they see fit with the other two games.
